5 Guys Late Dinner Shop

Hello all. I've done plenty of the dudes shops during the day, but this is my first late dinner shop. Because we have to arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before closing, what happens if the restaurant closes before you can spend 15 minutes in the dining area after receiving your order? I emailed the help desk, but figured I would get a reply faster on the forum. Thanks, all!

I've done a few of these and in my experience you'll be the only customer there so you'll receive your order in plenty of time to be able to spend fifteen minutes. I usually go thirty minutes before closing rather than leave it any later just in case.
Harriet is right, you will probably be the only customer at the end. Even if they lock the doors, they will not ask you to leave. They just won't admit new customers. And they are usually there at least half an hour after they actually close, cleaning up, etc., so they are probably not going to try to rush you out. That said, I try to time my arrival for exactly 29 minutes before closing to give myself plenty of time.
Part of this job is to see if they start rolling up the rugs and setting the chairs on the table. They can pressure you to leave with more subtle ways such as walking up to you and saying, "Is there anything else I can get for you?" They are not allowed to start closing the store and must leave the door unlocked until it is actually closing time and not 5-10 minutes early. They must keep the flat top hot and be ready to drop one last set of patties till the bitter end.

I did one of these where they closed early, turned people away, rushed me out, had the rugs rolled up already and cooked my burger with soapy water all over the kitchen floor at 30 minutes before close.

The next time I went to that location, all the faces in gray shirts as well as red had changed.
Thanks all. I'll get there at 9:30 and should be fine. Have a good day! smiling smiley

I did one of these a while ago with my wife and daughter we got the large fry and they gave us a lot of fries then the manager cam over and asked if we wanted so more fries as they had cooked too many. Took home a huge bag of fries to have for breakfast the next morning with eggs just mash them a little bit and refry.

Enjoy
Many years ago Middle Son worked as a cook at Sonic in the evenings after school. After he moved on, several years ago Youngest Son got the same job there, too. When I opened the refrigerator in the morning after a work shift I never knew what surplus food would be in there.

Interesting this was brought up. I recently did a shop for another restaurant where I sat and ate. At 25 minutes before closing they started putting chairs up on tables. I was by the window but there was a table with 2 people on it in the main part of the dining area that was completely surrounded by tables with chairs up and someone sweeping while they tried to eat. And this place was not a cheap fast food place, not that 5 guys is cheap either. My main entree and a small drink was over $20 for one person. The drink bar which had free refills had already been dismantled and they had taken away all the condiments. A couple came in around 20 minutes before closing and sat near me waiting for their to go order. I saw someone rush into the kitchen to put back the spigot for their drink order. But what if I had wanted a refill?
There was no question to report this on the form so I just wrote it in the small space I had for a narrative. I have not been back since but I sure hope someone took notice and told them not to close up while paying customers are trying to eat in peace and relative nice surroundings. Good for 5 guys if they are paying attention to this.
I rarely take these late dinner shops because I don't like eating at 9:30 p.m. at night. tongue sticking out smiley

I usually eat mid-day as my main meal, never past 5 p.m.

Me too! Although this would be a good after-drinks meal. But I wouldn't be able to trust myself to make accurate observations after a night of drinking winking smiley
