BIG Box Housewares

Hey everybody! I'm eyeing a shop in a town about 30 miles away from me that's been bonused and trying to find some other shops to do while I'm there. I've found a couple on Sentry for a "BIG Box Housewares Retailer" evaluation, where you go in and talk to an associate about a specific item (blender, cookware, etc.) Has anyone completed these shops in the past? How easy/hard would you say they are? Trying to decide if they're worth the time and fee.

I certainly appreciate your input!

If you do a search on the name of the client, you will find some very recent discussions about this shop. I would post the link, but what I would post would mention the retailer, so that would violate an ICA.
I did the blender one. This shop was not my favorite, but it was also not the worst I've done for the money by any means. There are a lot of things to do and my location is very cramped. If your location is not as cramped, it might be easier.

The one I did had a purchase requirement, and I purchased some little mini oven mitts that I absolutely love. So that's one of those extra side benefits of mystery shopping.
Is not a horrible shop but not worth the pay in my opinion. Too much to do like names and descriptions of everyone in the store while carrying around a large item and a gift registry.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

Thanks. When I posted this, I couldn't figure out who the client was, although I found out fairly quickly afterwards and found what I suspect is the thread you mentioned. smiling smiley

I ended up looking at the certification I needed to complete for this shop and decided it probably just wasn't worth the time and effort to me for the fee. Thanks for your input all! smiling smiley

I've done one and didn't find it too bad at all. There are some things to do, but nothing that is particularly awkward. The form is short with minimal narrative.
I suggest you read the details...there are a lot more interactions. You must also be able to juggle or grow another hand as you have to carry a bulky item until you are offered a cart (I was never offered a cart, not even recently when I shop there on my own time) and take notes at the same time. You used to be able to put it down after 10 minutes, but now you may end up carrying it for an hour if it takes you that long to do all the juggling.

My other issue is that you can only buy gift type items and not health/beauty aides-which is not clearly defined, but I am guessing that is nothing from the Harmon section. Maybe once per year, I need a gift type item from BBB. I used to do these shops for things I needed like shampoo and toilet paper (which BTW I would be happy to get as a gift!)

I don't think you have to get the gift registry anymore.
