Screen Shot???

I have an assignment that requires a 'screen shot' of a purchase I will place over the internet. My question: WHAT is a screen shot? I thought I was somewhat savvy, but I would like (I need to) know how to do this. Thanks.

Wikipedia explains it much better than I could and gives directions on how to capture screenshots for all operating systems:

THANK YOU! That was exactly what I needed to know. I have a Windows 10 operating system, and the screen shots will be stored in a new folder on my desktop. The folder is called "Screenshots" Thanks again.
A screenshot is basically a picture of what you can see on your screen.
If you have Windows 10, it should have OneDrive installed. Same thing as Dropbox.
The easiest way to save a screenshot is to use OneDrive or Dropbox, and set it up to save screenshots.
To take the screenshot, press "Print Screen" on your keyboard (assuming you are on Windows, not sure about other computers). If you don't have OneDrive or Dropbox, you can paste into Paint after you capture the screenshot. Then save as a .jpg or .jpeg
I did one of these shops recently and this was in the Shop Details: "There are several tools available, both for PCs and MACs, to capture screenshots, including: Snipping Tool (comes with Windows), Jing, Awesome Screen Shots, and Sanglt." I have used Snipping Tool quite successfully for taking screen shots - works like a charm and is easy to use.
I like Google's screenshot the best, since you can save the entire page of a website instead of just the visible part.

The Nimbus screenshot plugin gives you the best flexibility over what part of the page or the whole page to take the screenshot of:

Firefox:
[addons.mozilla.org]

Chrome version:
[chrome.google.com]

Nimbus Screenshot will help you to:

- Capture the whole web page or a required section of it;
- Capture the whole browser window (!);
- Create your own drawing or model from scratch (!);
- Paste different patterns and text boxes to your screenshot;
- Resize and crop your screenshot;
- Add arrows and stickers to your screenshot (!);
- Save screenshots in any of the following formats: JPG, PNG, BMP;
- Save screenshots to Google Drive.

Nimbus Screenshot supports horizontal scrolling. The editor interface allows editing objects even after you add them to the screenshot (and this feature is totally unique)!

There are 3 ways to capture your screen:

a) With the help of the button in your address bar;

b) With the help of the context menu;

c) With the help of a hot key that you yourself assign in the program settings.
