The 2 Hour Hotel Audit

It sounds like resizing isn't the issue, uploading individual pictures is crazy. I have had some audits paying $25 to $30 for onsite visits taking as little as 10 to 20 minutes. Uploading 20 to 25 pics one at a time was still a killer.

I made the mistake of doing this shop for $40.00. Never Again! Not only 2 hours at the hotel.......another 3 hours submitting the pictures.

Sara
I made the mistake of doing it once and it sounded like they only need a few pictures. An hour later, I was still there snapping pictures. Short and Sweet turned into long and tedious.

I am waiting for the next exciting opportunity!
I am only seeing about 8 of these in the whole state here, so it sounds like many people are making that mistake. I am grateful to the forum members who have posted their experiences here. It helped me avoid this audit.
Well I did one and I never resized a single photo. Took less than an hour onsite and not sure how long to put in because I kept taking breaks but I actually enjoyed it. It's already approved for pay and now that I know what they want the next one I do will go even faster!
I think that is the key with audits. The first one is usually not profitable. Subsequent audits, though, tend to go much faster. I will often avoid audits if there is only one I can do.
I usually keep quiet, but I can't with this. I completed two at $20/ea. sad smiley (Before I got on any forums) This was at least 5-6 hours at my computer searching for the right photo for the right question. On top of the two hours of walking around and taking pictures.... 7 - 8 hours of tedious work for $20 - $40. The misleading comment 15-45 areas of photos. Even if everything is compliant... each AREA has 5-6 pics each. You are looking at sifting through AT LEAST 75 pics easily that you will upload. I had over 100 on one. A lot of the questions on the audit are redundant. It is way better to stay home and fluff whatever you can than put yourself through this. I felt like Napoleon Dynomite when I finished... That is like $0.08 an hour!!

It probably helps if you have done revealed audit before, especially one involving pictures. I divided my photos into separate folders for each room to make selecting images easier. But, I do agree, uploading one photo at a time is inefficient and time-consuming on a job like this that has so many photos.

I also did one of these hotel shops, my 15 photos ended up being about 65 photos. And the shop took about 2 1/2 hours. Then when I got home, and it took about another 2 hours to upload the required photos and answer the questions. Lucky it was a $20 + $20 bonus shop. It was also my first hotel shop. Now that I know how to do these, maybe the next one will be a little quicker.
Bark913 - while you went to a hotel, this is not what people refer to as a hotel shop. A regular hotel shop involved checking in, evaluation meals, evaluating house keeping, etc.

Thank you for reporting your experience. The fee has gone up to $45 in my area. I am not going near one of these for less than $100. Your review of your experience is the most positive one I have read. Most people refuse to do a second one unless they are already locked in.

I completed one of these shops. I uploaded 186 pictures for this job. Like I said in another post, the hotel was nice, but NOTHING in any of the five rooms, dining room, lobby, hallways or conference room matched the guidelines, and I was required to take photos of everything that did not comply. I feel angry and used by the MS company. They fully know how much effort the job takes, and two hours is A BIG FAT LIE! Even at $45, the job is a rip off. You will spend 2 hours on site and another 3-5 hours going through the pics and uploading into each required slot.
These have all disappeared from the job boards within 200 miles of me. Since there aren't any other shoppers around here, I'm wondering if they have disappeared all over? I refused to do a route of 6 at $45 each, as I would have driven 600 miles to do the route. Totally not worth it.

Anybody else seeing them anywhere?
There is one near me as well. It's still at $45. It's in a very small town, so its likely not to have been refurbished yet. I'm waiting for $75.

LOL!!!
There are still ones within 1-00 miles of me. Still at $45. I got an email from the scheduler listing dozens around the US and pleading for help.

Interesting. I can't find them anywhere. I just can't believe they all disappeared at once, after sitting on the boards for weeks. I just expected them to pop back up after a few days, maybe with an increased fee.

Silly me!

The one I did had a $25 bonus. It zapped my time, both at the hotel and uploading the pictures. The next time I do one, I will know in advance to categorize my pics on my desktop instead of loading them from my phone. I'll also know to take multiple pics of every room, including the tiny bathrooms.

Yep, I just got done reading another thread and agree. Plus I even read my own comment from last week saying that it sounded like an $80 shop. And now that I understand that you have to take a picture of everything that is non compliant and many people are saying that the hotel has not been renovated and therefore, everything is non compliant. That's why is requiring so many photos, more than what they say in the guidelines. I'm going to stay home and fluff the cats. winking smiley
The hotel near my home is a $45 fee assignment. I'm not sure what the attraction with the hotel is but it gets scheduled as soon as it's listed. Maybe the hotel is updated and it requires the minimum number of photo's. I've tried to get the hotel but by the time I click the link in my email, it's already scheduled. Now I'm curious. Maybe I'll go down and compare the photos from the guidelines to the areas I can walk through. The hotel is only about 15 min from my home. Humm... Curiosity is killing this cat.
I speak with Pizza driver, nice man in 50s I always tip good because he work hard. Pizza man ask me if I ever want to work making money with his Pizza business. Not to be rude I ask him what can I expect? Pizza man likes me because I always fair to him. He say he averages over $20 with tips after gas expense is taken away. If Pizza man makes $20 and boss pay payroll taxes for disability accident insure and other payroll taxes.

Why Pizza man make more than Hotel Expert Auditor, Hotel Expert merit same pay as Pizza man, do I look at the topic with blind eye because no understanding why they no pay Auditor same as Pizza man. Company shift all risk to worker while paying less than risk-taking company who pay workers more money. I saw this conduct in Asia and do not understand why good Americans allow them to be sold to lowest bidder. Experts desire good pay, not low bidder.

If you are referring to the hotel picture audit which requires a college degree and a $30,00 income (down from the initial $80,000), I think that each hotel is only being done once in this seemingly perpetual round (didn't it start in December?). So, once the one near you got done, it was no longer available. I keep seeing all of the town names, but fewer are available. Another alternative is that it gets assigned, the shopper finally gets to see what is involved, cancels, and the location becomes available again.

Another email today. Now the compensation is $50 and - drum beat please - a Hero Citation. Will wonders never cease! Imagine that - you can get a Hero Citation now as well! I am sure that that is what many people have been holding out for!

I had two in my area still showing yesterday. They raised them both to $50 yesterday. One is now gone. Should we wager that the shopper will be posting her soon?
Since the hotel hasn't been named, can someone tell me which company's audits these are? I'm getting emails for one from AF that seems very attractive for the pay. It reads "...a total of five photos." Same one or something else?

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
