Losing a shop sad smiley

There was a shop that I enjoyed doing every month. However, I just found out they are no longer doing that project any longer at this time. No it's not that BIG one that was dropped a while back and this is a different company.

My question when is when a company drops a client whose idea is it? Is it the Mystery Shop company or the client it self or both? And what are the reasons? And do they ever pick it up again. I know sometimes other companies pick them up with different requirements and pay.

If I am not allowed to ask then forgive me but I would like to know.

I would presume it is generally the client that drops the MSC. MSC aren't going to give up their revenue stream if they can help it. There are a multitude of reasons why a client might drop their service. I'd hang tight and check the boards regularly. The client may sign up with another MSC. Then again, they could have decided to rely on surveys on the back of their receipts like many companies are doing.
I'm sure there are a variety of reasons why a program may be dropped. The most likely being the client no longer feels they are getting the value or overall cost cutting. While it may be possible a MSC would decide to drop a client, IMO it is unlikely as long as they are being paid. If it happens the MSC does drop a client one would think the client would show up with another MSC. Unless of course the client has a tendency not to pay their bills.

This shop that I did does not have surveys on the back unless they started doing that.

I will keep checking the boards and hopefully some one will pick them up.
Don't lose faith just yet. I used to shop a casino every single month (restaurants, gift shop, table, slots, bars) and then one day it just disappeared. MSC confirmed they no longer do them.

Eight months later and the casino shop is back, with another MSC.
I'm not. If I read the e-mail right they may pick it up later on. Hopefully they or another MSC will pick it up and I can find it smiling smiley
I imagine there are times when an MSC underbids a contract and then doesn't renew it. Or the client is a PITA and they don't want to deal with them. But yes, normally the client is the one not renewing contracts.

For one client I use to shop for, they were trying to figure out why one city where they had stores was not doing as well as other cities. That store was also receiving complaints that the employees would later denied. It seemed when the corporate managers did surprise spot checks, the employees were on their best behavior. The client mystery shopped until they got their answers. Yep, employees were terminated shortly after.
Let's take the roast beef sandwich shop: It was done for years by a certain mystery shopping company. Now it has gone to a bigger mystery shopping company. In this case, perhaps the newer msc bid lower to get the client or the client was fed up with the older company. It's hard to say. I'm thinking it's a change in scenery, change in program and change what the client wants for each program. smiling smiley
Or look at a certain nit picky pizza client who insists on using several MSCs at once. I'm sure in their mind each of those MSCs has an entirely unique shopper base, which we all know could not be farther from reality.

I have seen clients return to the same msc after a period of a year or two. I do not know if the first contract was terminated and then picked up again or they just took a breather to re fashion their questionnaire. I remember that happening in my area with California Pizza Kitchen. It was gone a long time and then returned to the same msc.
