What's your minimum fee to perform a Credit Card Shop? $200 or higher?

A few things to consider, when you open up a bank credit card they are offering $200-$300 bonus if you spend $1500 over a three month period.

The Big Box Store offered me $100 if I opened a credit card when I bought a weed eating machine. What is your minimum to perform credit or checking account shop? You deserve what banks are offering plus a fee but its not working out like that. I saw them advertising a credit card shop for $100 while the bank was offering $200-$300 without doing work, why?

Wouldn't you get both the fee and whatever the current promotion is with the credit card or bank?

Actually it was a question. There have never been either of those shops that interested me so I never looked over the guidelines. smiling smiley

@Bubbabubba, just put the bottle of grain alcohol down and walk away. Time for you to go beddie bye.
I did a cc shop about 6 months ago and got both the fee for the shop and also the cc new cardholder offer. I used nerdwallet.com to put my typical spending amounts in, and the site suggested the best rewards credit card for me. I made note of the top three cards and then when one of them was offered as a shop, I scooped it up.
I thought this was very similar to the shop where you buy a smartphone: if you're not already in the market for a new credit card, then it probably doesn't make sense to open a new account, but it was time to switch out my old card for a better rewards program based on how I spend, so it worked out perfectly.

Cool they allow you to keep the new offer and our shop scenario! CaliGirl how long did you have to send them your paperwork, two or three billing cycles? If you had the chance to do the shop again, would you?

There is no amount of money that would get to do a credit card shop. smiling smiley No wait! One million dollars might cover it...
@SunnyDays2, if you win the Powerball this weekend, you won't have to worry about credit cards anymore! In fact, you won't have to worry about MS'ing ever again!
I recently did a credit card shop, got paid $100 for opening the card. I wanted the card for a transfer, they had the best offer 0% APR for 24 months. No strings attached, could close the card whenever I wanted. Certainly worth it to me. No purchases necessary.
I also opened a credit card a year ago on my own. $200 back on a $1000 purchase within 90 days. I put a trip on the card for $1500 got the $200 back.
Guy, this one had no account maintenance requirement. I guess I could have closed the account as soon as I got home and submitted the shop (not that I'd recommend that.. again, I don't think doing this shop makes sense unless you already want to open a credit card). I just had to fill out the report when I got home, they seemed primarily interested in compliance type questions: did the CSR properly explain the terms and conditions, was I read the proper disclaimers, did they provide me with the right paperwork, etc.
If, in a few years I'm ready for a new credit card again, I'd absolutely do the shop again. It paid well for the time spent. But again (or maybe this is again, again), I wouldn't open a new credit card just for a shop. Sunny's right that they'd have to be talking Powerball-level fees to get me to open a credit account that I wouldn't otherwise use or that didn't meet my needs.

Lisa if I can get two more tickets will you and Sybil go with me? Taking two hotties to their Amusement Park Adventure would make this assignment better! I promise it would only be shop related business, we can test out my new credit card. Let's max the credit limit and ask questions later smiling smiley

Honestly, I would still shop because I enjoy it ....even if I became a Bazzillionaire! smiling smiley
i would quit everything in a heartbeat. I would travel and get far away from the USA while all this presidential chaos is going on. See ya in 4 - 8 years!

What? And miss all the entertainment. I don't have to go out anymore for a laugh. I just stay home and read or watch the antics. I expect to go far away only if the wrong person wins. I just fear that it is going to get really crowded up there in Canada for the next 4-8 years.

Your are such a freeee bird! smiling smiley I will let you know in PM if I win...just kidding.... I would shout it out here!
I got a non-targeted advertisement in the mail offering $300 to open a Chase credit card, so I can't imagine doing a mystery shop for one for less than $500. Even then, it would need to be with a recognized company, and not require me to keep the card beyond its initial application fee period.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
Chase had another attachment to their Credit Card Blue Cash freedom card, if you open a Checking Account they called it "Relational Banking" $250 bonus plus $300 for the credit card after spending $1,500 in three months". For many of our Shoppers, that's not a huge threshold is it? Use it as your business card this year and find another card next year? Just finding ways for us to scrape more cash, always nice to help fellow shoppers.

If my ssn is required to do I shop, I don't do it. It's that simple. Going into my credit file is a dealb reaker for getting me to accept a shop.
