I am Canadian and would like to know can I legally do hotel shops in the states? I know Coyle for example pays 15.00 and 85.00 bucks for different shops plus reimburses. There is a lot more hotel shops in the states than Canada. I am asking because I would not want to get in trouble with the U.S.A government.

While I am not a lawyer - and you should get one - you would either have to get a work visa or explore entry temporary under NAFTA. Start with the GC's web page below before trying to read the linked USG pages.

It's not a matter of where you travel to...but where you get paid from. I travel all over the world for Coyle, but am paid and 1099'ed in US funds, from an American company.

Since it's a business-to-business transaction, I don't think there is any issue with a Canadian contractor working for an American company. It may make a bit work work at tax time, though.
