Got a text from someone supposedly from athpower mystery shopping company. Haven't heard of the company but I checked their website and they are on sassie and have their own website. Person had a Walmart money transfer mystery shop to offer me.$100 per assignment. pffffffff. Is this an actual mystery shop that exists? I had a strong feeling that this was an impostor so I told them I already work for them. I asked a lot of questions, including the dates and location of the shop. Person wanted my details first before they could give me the dates and locations. So I gave them my fake ath power id. They responded "E-Mail: Full Name: Address: City, State, Zip:"

I said "just look at my account on the ath power website, it has all of that"

Hopefully I didn't troll a actual scheduler.



Rest of the Convo

Person responded "I can't access your account for this assignment as its special assignment. You have to provide your info if you wish to participate"

I told them to send the assignment instructions to my email so I can prepare for the shop and that I had a couple shops for tomorrow and that I can add the shop to my route.

They responded "One you supply your details you would start on Monday"

I responded "When is the deadline for that shop? I work as a gourmet pancake designer Mon-Thurs so i can't do shops during those days"

Scammer: You can do the assignment anytime within 24 hrs. usually takes less than 1-2 hrs to finish.

Me: Do you pay for mileage?

Scammer: There's a stipend for mileage

Me: Can you pay $25 for the stipend?

Scammer: You likely earn more...

Me: I get more than 25 for mileage?

Scammer: Its undecided till you receive your assignment package.

Me: I'll pass for now, maybe another shopper will do it. Do you know when the gas station audits are starting in September or October?

Scammer: Yes they are.

Me: Ok keep me posted on any new shops. I'm gonna go on my total gym. My stomach fat is going away from all the food shops I've been doing. LOL

Convo lasted 3 hours.

If I encounter another one of these critters, I will try for round #2

No. That's a fake shop. They usually have shops that include banks but no money transfer type of shops. They post shops on their job boards and send emails to you about shops once you are approved as a shopper.

Tell them that you haven't received payment yet. Tell them that this is odd because ATH always sends you the payment check in advance via overnight FedEx, but if they want you can initiate a debit from your end. Ask them for their bank account information.

Did you by chance get this text because you have JobSlinger or JobSlingerPlus?

Sounds like a total scam.

Keep messing with them. If they are wasting time talking to you all day, they don't have time to scam others.

Not entirely sure how the person got my number.

Tell them that you will deposit the check and wait for it to clear before you do any work. That will end the conversation. Call Ath Power directly. They will tell you that it is a scam.
