I also saw a list with one posted at over $400. wasn't available when I looked on ob board. Depending how much work you get from them and weather you ever wanted to work for them again you could pursue the mistake and get it. Once a shop is applied for and assigned at a price its a valid contract.

If it is assigned to you at that price it is a valid contract. Since they made the mistake they need to own it and pay what was offered. I would not work for that company again if they reduced my pay to $10 - it was their error. Too bad if they lost money - it happens to shoppers all of the time. You know those "easy" shops that pay $10 and end up taking 3 hours of your time. I do not have the option of telling MSC's that the work was more than what I was paid, so why should they be able to change the fee once it is accepted??

While your right on they should be held to the contract if you do I guarantee you will have a hard time getting any more work from the msp. You are the 99% peon and the msp is the 1% elite.

Don't care, there are plenty of other MSP's to sign up with.

And don't forget those hero citations. They are just as good for paying bills as Monopoly money.
Several years ago Market Force made a mistake on shop fees. I don't recall the exact amounts, but for some reason I keep thinking $40 was the mistake and they meant to post them around $10. After an uproar they eventually honored the higher fee on many of the shops. There should be a thread around here on the subject.

Well, I had applied and been accepted for, but had not done, two of these...one at the crazy $497 price! When I got the email from the MSC apologizing for their error, I just figured it's easier to delete my assignments, which I did, rather than pursue trying to claim the crazy fee for one of them. Apparently this was a huge error in many areas by this MSC. I've got too much to do enjoying life after cancer, rather than fight something like that. I'll leave that to others.

I did two of these shops last year at $10 fee, that's how they started, and some more far fetch places were up to $40 fee. At $10 it was a very simple shop plus if at gas station u can buy up to $10 in the convenience store. They were pretty easy straight forward shops. All of them in my area are taken at $5 right now. I would prob do it for $5 at a gas station if it was close by and I will be in the area anyhow. I know this year it says they will only pay like $2 if the store is closed, last year it happened where the address led me to an office building with no such business, but I still got paid $10.
Last year they were $10 shocker another price reduction on a shop. I did 9 got paid for 8 only 1 or maybe 2 actually had anything to buy. Annoying. Reimbursement came later seperate. Won't touch them till they get up to $20 now out of standards.

Because you had not yet conducted the job. They have every legal right to cancel the assignment before you complete it. You're example of "it was more work then what I was paid" is taking it to a different level, where the shop was completed. If you completed the shop at $497, then you have the right to insist on that payment. (an attempt that would probably be futile, but that's when you can execute your right).
Yep, up until we perform the assignment, they have the option to change the terms of the job. They can cancel it, just as we can cancel it, and they can change the fee just as we can call and say, "I know I accepted this job for $5, but I really think it's worth $10 now, and I won't do it for $5".
If we cancelled or called to ask for more money, they have a right to be annoyed and reconsider whether they want to keep doing jobs with us in the future. Just like we have that option when the reverse is true.
This seemed like an honest mistake that was fixed quickly and everyone seems to have been notified of the error properly. As bummed as I am to not get a chance to do super simple shop for hundreds of dollars, I think I'm filing this one under "s&@! happens" and moving on.
