I can understand companies becoming part of MSPA. I'm not really understanding the purpose of shoppers being part of it. Or, is it just a registration so that shoppers can access the job board?

I accepted the free membership option today. After I signed up I was able to search companies on the MSPA website by category. There are categories like grocery, entertainment, etc..., and you can also select the country/state you want as well to further narrow down choices. I'm not sure if it is available without a membership (I don't think it is), but regardless it's a very useful feature. You can pick the industries that you want and get lists of 10-50 companies instead of going to the list of 250 companies at the bottom of the forum (I'm still working on signing up for them all too, only have done about 100), which looks...well you know, it looks scary to sign up for 200 companies.
To make it less overwhelming pick a number like 5, 10 or whatever and make it your goal to sign up with that many a week.

Two things to keep in mind when using the MSPA list. First, there are excellent MSCs who are NOT members of the MSPA. Second, membership does not ensure the company has the best practices when dealing with ICs. Companies can regularly be late with payments without jeopardizing their membership. In the past companies have even become non-payers and it has been months and months before the MSPA moved to remove them from the organization. Due diligence would be to check out the company here before proceeding.

IMSC, not free, but Pam, the President, knows MSCs and allows questions...like this forum, but made for the IC/Shopper, open to MSCs, who can post jobs. It is shopper oriented, and she has all closed/secret pages on FB. You just need to be added to join the pages. You can get info at info@imscinfo.com and leave a message that you want to join a group...she even has one dedicated to route shopping. You can use my name and tell her I posted the contact email address...and that you are interested and want to see the groups are what you are interested in.

Oh, MSPA has two different memberships, one free and one paid. The paid one has more benefits, like 24 hr advance access to the job boards. Hugs
It appears the MSPA main interest is increasing their Facebook group. I got added to the Facebook group but kinda nervous about it because it isn't a secret group. I don't need everyone knowing I am in the group. They have a goal to get a certain number of people into the group. I wonder if they are using us to promote that and brag about how many MSPA shopper members they have to try to get more companies to pay to be members. Shoppers are complaining in the group about the paid membership being a waste
I have always been able to look at the job boards on their website without being a member. I am MSPA gold certified, but that is an entirely different thing.
