This was in my Facebook feed today

It was written by my fomer desk partner who has since moved to Indiana from California. Tony is her husband. She has no idea that I happen to be a mystery shopper.

"The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo has a secret shopper program. People go through and then the zoo gets a 6 page report on there experiences and encounters with the employees. The last secret shopper named Tony as the Outstanding Team Member. She praised him for his cheerful smile and because he interacted with her toddler by getting to his level and shaking his hand. Kids have always liked Tony, now he has kids from all over this state loving having him as their train operator. Good job my love."

Of course what caught my eye was "6 page report." They are always looking for shoppers for the San Diego Zoo. Now I know I am wise not to take the bait.

The MSC this shop is with has long'er' reports for every shop. BUT they are completely upfront about the work expected. They are actually one of my favorite companies as the communication is BEYOND awesome, they pay on time and the directions/expectations are extremely clear.
I did one shop for this company, toward the end I wanted to cry. I love the company they have really nice people but their report was ridiculous imo.

Motivation increases when we assume large responsibilities with a short deadline.
I echo the crying, Pammie. I still take the bait, though. Almost never get the early-bird bonus because they take so long. Still worth it.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
The one and only shop I did for this company consisted of a report with check lists and paragraphs that did not refer to items on the check list....the check lists were quite extensive to begin with. So finding additional information to write about required creativity. The shop was over 200 miles away round trip. The topper was I was in a rental car and forgot to reset the cruise control.....it was a pricey shop for me...after the trooper did not give me a break. the long report just made the day more miserable in the end.
I also cannot believe the long reports. The schedulers are fantastic and communication is the best but the work is hours and hours long. Sometimes the pay is very little because of your expenses. I do love the people there though.
Wow! Thank you so much for the information. I live in San Diego and have for many years. A six page report... WOULD NEVER DO THIS!
