Were you ever glad after the fact that you did not accept a job?

Yesterday I flew on Southwest. I was planning to do a mystery shop for the airline but due to it being a short cheap flight I decided against doing the job as my reimbursement would be very low. I also looked unsuccessfully for other airport shops as I was going to be at LAX and OAK airports. I was ever so glad I did not take/find any jobs at all when the entire Southwest air computer system went down....Every single seat in the airport restaurants were full of passengers hoping to eat and drink away the wait for their flight. Many flights were completely cancelled too. The lines were long and I am pretty sure they would have run out of many items at the stores. My flight finally arrived at my destination at 10 PM (instead of 5:45 PM)and LAX was also milling with people sitting on floors and everywhere waiting to get their flight.
Any other "phew, glad I did not go through with accepting that shop" storiesdue to unforeseen circumstances?

Similar...I picked up two Chase kiosk shops at the airport this week. I wasn't actually flying, but I work right by the airport, so I book my ticket with SW points and then cancel the ticket once I'm through security. I contemplated what day I wanted to complete the shop this week and decided Tuesday looked like a good fit into my schedule...so glad I didn't choose Wednesday. Thankfully, the MSC allows for no-penalty cancellations on this particular shop due to the post-security and potential 30-minute waiting requirements, so I could've easily canceled if I had to, but I'm happy for the extra money I earned from doing them.

Shopping central Arizona.
Several years ago I had a scheduler call to request I do a shop a few days earlier than scheduled because the shop ahead of mine had to be rejected so they needed a few extra days behind me to schedule the reshop and keep the minimum time between shops. It worked for me, so we did it.

The night we originally scheduled there were robbers who came into the place at a time when we reasonably would have been there. All customers and crew were 'relieved' of their wallets and jewelry, the cash drawer was emptied and several folks got pistol whipped badly enough to need medical care when they resisted. Just as glad no shopper was present that evening.
We were glad as well. We would have been compliant so unlikely would have been hurt. It would, however, have been a strange report to write up.

I don't think they would have made you write very much, under the circumstances, though the professional thing (and what I'm sure you would have done) would have been to offer as much of the shop as you could complete. I am sure you would have done fine by mystery shopping standards am so glad that you weren't hurt.
Well, it's nothing compared to some of these, but there was once a restaurant shop (not Chipotle's) which I was thinking of taking. I decided to go hang out with a friend instead. A few days later, I found out that several people had picked up food poisoning across a two week period when the shops were being scheduled. I would have been shopping there during that timeframe. I also almost took an airport shop once but decided not to in case my flight arrived later than expected----which it did. There were probably some other things, but certainly nothing as dramatic as Flash's story. Wow...
I was briefly at BWI yesterday and saw the huge lines at the SW areas of the terminal. I was glad I was not flying!

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
There was a shop recently which I was going to take but some other shops came up and I decided to not take it. Well a few days later shop was posted with a nice bonus so I was happy I waited as I made more.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Years ago the local commuter train was shopped. I did them frequently as I went into the city to see my kids, and the shops always went well. But I did seem to always, thankfully, miss a train accident/mishap/major delay/nightmare. I'd hear on the connecting bus the regular train riders talking about the train accident the day before.
Sandy...sorry, bad timing. i was trying to plan a trip up to SF (Oakland airport) taking train in, so glad I didn't do it. I know LAX was crazy along with Southwest. Cancelling a shop, yes, I'm glad I cancelled the new grocery, as having to eat that hot meal, was too much, couldn't do it. MS. understood and still has me work the cosmetics, just texted today. Travel has become a nightmare.

Live consciously....
