Should I get the full gas reimbursement or not?

If at all possible I would probably purchase at least a few cups of coffee! I do not drive long distances for jobs but I do drive long times for jobs that are short distances. Yesterday I spent almost 3 hours to get home which was 19 miles by one route and 29 miles by another. I did have a mystery shop job 19/29 miles away which I scheduled since I had to be in the neighborhood anyway. Had I gotten to the mystery shop and discovered all they had at the restaurant was coffee I would have gotten that, been very upset that I had to do the entire report for a $2 reimbursement and perhaps tried to negotiate something better for my time and effort on the report. But in no way would I feel that my driving 3 hours to get home was the liability of the mystery shop company. It was my choice to take a job which might be fraught with issues further from home than I usually would shop. The fact that it was not worth it to you to try to reschedule the shop again is not the msc responsibility. As one of the early replies stated, S....T(e) happens....we need to roll with the punches and see these things as part of the job most importantly when the msc is in no way at fault for what happened but the issues are, as in this case, caused by not having cash, not knowing your atm code, not wanting to drive back home to get money and drive back again, etc. etc. All avoidable issues from the msc point of view.
