When a MSC calls, how often do you already know what job they are trying to fill?

I realized that there are several MSCs, who's job boards I regularly check, that I already know what job they are calling about and either answer or ignore the call accordingly. Sometimes I am hoping they will call as the bonus will be higher than if I call asking for a bonus.

I would say about 90% as well. And it helps a lot because if I am going to need to tell them 'no' I just don't pick up.

After today's strange call where the Scheduler said "You owe us because you signed up to be a shopper" now my paranoia runs rampant. What would you do Flash if "said Scheduler" informed you because you applied to be a shopper and they took the time to approve your application "you owed them your time because they spent their time putting you in the system"? I find it odd some MSCs act like we are Apple's suppliers, its not a coveted position because Apple squeezing everything they can out of you. GTAT had to file bankruptcy to get out of their contracts with Apple after thinking struck gold Apple became their worst nightmare.

One more thing, there are Schedulers who call us offering less than the Job Board and "last minute" emails thinking we needed a personal touch to motivate us.

When the Papa John's people call, I always know! I refuse to take shops straight off their board. I've even ignored nominations to get a higher fee from their personal calls.

What made you stop accepting the MSC's pizza jobs?
I take them, but when I started with them, I wasn't getting a fee. Then I asked to have them reimburse my tip. I've inched up to more than that and take 3-4 a month usually. I just won't log on and accept them that way anymore. I prefer fees to eat it instead of reimbursement only.

Well, after an initial shock and disbelief I would probably start laughing and ask what part of being an Independent Contractor the scheduler did not understand.
I think for me it is about 75% of the time. I check the job boards pretty regularly and have caller ID so pretty much a no brainer when that certain MSC calls.
I am guilty of this.. with one company in particular. No, I will not take $5, $9, or even $12 to travel 75 miles on way with tolls of $8.80 along the way. No, do not call back later. No, please don't wait for me to think about it. No means no. Sometimes I go out of my way to check boards and decline before the call. I don't mine traveling 75 (so 150 miles ) if someone is paying say... $50 bonus? Because I can usually make a route of it...

Most of the calls I get are for restaurant shops. The schedulers for these MSCs know that I don't do food shops and I work for cash. I initially took their calls thinking they would offer something else. I don't take their calls any more.

I have saved individual numbers of schedulers within the same MSC. Some offers are low and some are okay, and some I can negotiate up. I've edited my phone contact list with "low offer," "big bucks," etc so when I get a call, I have an idea of what's on the other end.
When my phone rings, most times I know it is for a Five Guys shop, and I am usually right. Although recently, the same MSC called me, and offered a Metro PCS shop for $60. I was shocked, and it was very easy.
Somehow or another, I must have inadvertently put Maritz' phone number on my list of numbers I block on my landline, because I got an email this week saying that "per my request" (??HUH??) I was being deactivated. So I called them and was told that they could never reach me at my landline number, so they deactivated me. So I told them to use my cell phone number, since I'm basically tethered to it anyway (ha ha!). But when they call, I ignore them 90% of the time anyway, since their shops rarely interest me, and I've only done one for them this year, so we'll see how this goes!
I always know 100% when NSS calls for the one shop I love to do. Other companies I don't always know, but can figure it out, since it's a monthly thing. They call before jobs go on the board, nice to have that relationship,
and I help them when job is close by and someone flaked. Got a desperate email today for 25$ to do a job tomorrow, problem being, it is in Florida!!

Live consciously....
When Market Force calls me on a Saturday morning, I know 100% of the time they're trying to get me to do a grocery shop. I ignore these calls 99% of the time. On other days of the week, I answer, because it could be just about anything.
