Bonus trends...now you see them, catch them if you can!

Just wondering if this is an emerging trend...I have been offered bonus (verbally, in email, on the shop/shop log). Yet the bonuses are NOT being paid. I get the regular pay for the shop, but no bonus.

Just another observation. Some companies are becoming slower and slower to pay. (There are threads on some of those companies.) With increasing lag time in pay, or the missing bonus, I have stopped accepting shops from those companies until I get paid.

The schedulers are upset with me for not taking the shops because I am waiting for the back pay/back bonuses. In some cases, the schedulers have actually helped chase down the money. In other cases, they just call and call and email and email. In a few cases, they move on to the next person and take me off their list for emails and for calls. Or in the rare case - the scheduler that says that is not HER problem - she has nothing to do with the pay - but am I going to help her out or not? Uh, nope - not helping ya out. Yeah, still waiting on pay from THAT company.

Is anyone else feeling this? I imagine so based on the threads posted about late or missing pay. Haven't seen any on missing bonuses.

Not my experience. When I agree to a bonus I indicate I will be watching for the bonus to show up with the shop before I perform it.
I think it's company-specific. There are some companies that are struggling to stay afloat or have a business model where the shoppers are disposable, and they probably try to get away with paying as little as possible as late as possible. There are others where it's an end of the month frenzy to get things done and schedulers have to be reminded of their promised bonus. Like Flash, I don't usually do a bonused shop without a written confirmation, and I'm now rarely doing shops for companies with long pay schedules.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
Who are these MSC's you speak of, so we can keep this in the back of our heads....

Whenever I am told that I will receive a bonus, I make sure that it is put in my log before I do the shop!

Right FLASH!

Better yet, print to PDF proof of the promised bonus:
1. Anywhere in the assignment information listing the bonus.
2. Within the actual report you submitted (typically seen in SASSIE)
3. In your invoice you submit (e.g. MaritzCX).
4. Email correspondence from the MSC or MSC representative.

That alone should give you all the ammunition you need in case you're shorted the bonus upon pay.

Some of the companies include -

Beyond Hello/SeelevelHX (never made good on the bonus, despite the emails)
Cirrus (pay only)
Dunlap/HDE (pay only)
Goodwin (pay only)
Monterey (pay only)
NSS (DID make good on the bonus)
NWP (pay and bonus)
Sat Services (that took forever & a scheduler working with me to get the missing bonuses)
Sentry (pay only - they seem to be doing the same thing ATH is doing with bill.com)

There are other companies, but I can not remember who they are right now.

There was one company - NWP - that offered me a generous bonus over the phone to do a shop for them. The scheduler never put it in the shop log. Would not send an email stating the bonus. I called the company. I emailed the company. The "bonus" was verbal only. I didn't do the shop.

I do have an electronic trail with the pay/bonuses. It sometimes takes months to get a response. And sometimes, like with Dunlap/HDE, there just is NEVER a response.

KUDOS to NSS for looking at the electronic trail and paying the back pay (bonus) quickly, once I got to the right person.

It's usually a tough to get to the right person to get things done.

I understand that weekends, holidays, personal emergencies, and mistakes happen. It's how things are handled afterwards - when the concern has been brought to the attention of the company - that really matters.

And schedulers - I know it's not "your" job to pay us, but it goes a long towards good will if you will help us reach a resolution on these issues (back pay, late pay, missing bonuses, etc.)

Like I said, stuff happens. When things go wrong, make things right again.
