Not sure of the rules yet as I'm a bit newer here, however, there are ice cream/yogurt shops to be had. I just snagged one up today... my second one for this particular company.

I'm new as well. The usual rules are that we can't say the MSP and the Customer in the same post/thread.
I can tell you that Starbucks ended their traditional mystery shopping program around 10 years ago.

Other coffee chainis are shopped.

Oh gosh. I forgot about that one. It's like a coupon. Hardly worth it for $4.

I do it as a filler shop. If it's on my route I don't mind stopping for a muffin, bagel or coffee. Easy report. I think their Caramael frappuccino is better than Starbucks. I guess they call it "blended".

There are more near you than near me. With my luck, I'd assign it and have to make a special trip. Too much hassle for me. We have 20 Starbucks for every CB&TL near me.
Years ago, a different company had this account. It was run similar to the Chipotle account. Funny thing, I know the executive who wrote that old report for CB& TL. I told him it was a lame report, and then he told me he wrote it. smiling smiley We had a long discussion about "for here or to go". He works for a different fast food chain now. He got a better offer.

I always assumed the issue with "for here or to go" was the sales tax. I'm guessing they had an issue with the state tax franchise board over not collecting tax on orders that were "for here" but not ring up as so. In California, if the coffee/ pastry is "To go" it's not taxed and vice versa for "for here" orders. Am I right?
Oh, I knew we couldn't list both in a statement but I mentioned turn over time on a type of shop and mentioned the company once... like just the type of shop not the store, and then a company name and was messaged that I should delete it... example (made up here)

Say I worked for a company called Bigband&Swing and I said "anyone know what day new reed change shops are posted on Bigband&Swing boards?" Someone said that was a violation even though I just mentioned the type of shop and the company. I didn't mention the store I was shopping--only the service they provide. But then I see folks mention who does grocery shops all the time, just not the grocery store itself so I wasn't quite sure.

I don't see how that's a violation. Perhaps someone else can clarify?

Mystery shopping around Georgia.

Yes, Starbucks was smarter and "built in" the tax. Whomever did it for CB&TL must have been the same person that thought that we would want to eat off of china plates, like they do in Singapore. (That's the reason for the paltes BTW.)
Rita's Italian Ice keeps coming up, occasionally Ben & Jerry's and Cream ice cream shops
I have a friend that used to manage a CB&TL years ago who helps me on shops when I need a second person. I ran into her one day at a CB&TL while I was doing a job. She never asked if I was working but she did ask me if the employee asked the "for here or to go question" and explained something about them being fined for not asking the question and getting in trouble with the government for not collecting taxes.

In California it is not whether it is for here or to go on the tax question. If it is a prepared food item from a place that is like a restaurant it is taxed. If you buy a prepackaged prepared food frozen thing in a grocery store there is no tax but If you go to the deli in the grocer and have them make you a sandwich you pay tax on it as that compares to buying from a restaurant and it is something considered that you can consume right away. They even usually give you little packages of mustard, napkins etc which would be a tip off as to whether it is taxable too. A pound of meat in a package from the deli should not be taxable. For any retail place like a coffee shop you pay tax on almost everything because it is made for you . The pastries are made for you too and a Starbucks type place is considered like a restaurant. I am not sure whether you would pay tax if you purchased a one pound bag of coffee to take home at STarbucks.. Probably not the way I understand the law.
In California, from my understanding, the hot and to go both play a part unless the establishment falls under the 80/80 rule. Here is a great article on the crazyness of it. [archives.sfweekly.com]
The article itself is confusing to figure out. But I think at times the vendors themselves are confused so that is why taxes are applied differently. I myself have experienced tax on the full amount of a couponed item and also on only the leftover amount after the coupon is applied both when purchasing food and non food items. It seems to be about 50/50. As a consumer I 100% prefer the method of applying tax to my actual payment. Sometimes on a pricey item with a hefty coupon or 2 for 1 coupon the savings can be immense.

Your friend is correct about the tax issue.

The above publication spells this rule out in more easily understood terms. It seems to me that much of this is defined by the 80/80 rule and by how the place of business has decided to pay their taxes which as customers we may not know. This info is in the first few pages of this publication. It looks like to avoid taxation when ordering coffee or another hot beverage in a coffee shop type place in Calif you should order to go but some locations will still charge tax in specific circumstances.
I keep seeing Sprinkles Cupcakes and Ice Cream in my area of SoCal with a reimbursement of $23 but no pay. I have not done it yet, too much sugar for me.
What state are you in? There are some local creameries that are shopped in this area.

Colorado this trip. I travel a lot so I use the scheduling consolidation apps/sites quite a bit.

I've only done the pre order ones for that shop. You get a whole dozen. In my opinion not worth the $$ but once in a while I do one around someone's bday and then freeze some of the cupcakes for treats later. The report is not too hard although it is easier if you order only one or two flavors as you need to report on each flavor you ordered.
Haagen Dazs, TCBY, 16 Handles, Ben & Jerry, Dairy Queen, Menuodos, and Auntie Ann are few of the ice creamery/yogurt shopped around here.smiling smileysmiling smiley
