I want to cry this is so painful! Why can't they all be mobile friendly?

I just posted about my experience with the Menards safety audit. What I didn't mention was how frustrated I was the MSC's website is not mobile friendly. First of all, I couldn't get internet inside the store so couldn't take photos as I went, uploading them directly to the survey. I had to take photos and then upload to the survey when I got home. I was doing this and apparently, didn't "save" and most the photos did not save so here I go again. I have to click 1. upload photo 2. add files 3. documents 4. gallery 5 album and then click onto the photo I need. UGH!!!!! How much work and time would we all save if we could use our phone while doing the shop instead of having to load the photos to the website after getting home? For today's safety audit I was going to complete the report as I went through the store, adding narrative in the parking lot so I could see exactly how long they take. The actual walk through took less time (and frustration) than the report.

Do we have any idea when more MSCs will get with the program and become more mobile friendly? How hard can it be? winking smiley

OMG so I clicked submit after loading all of my photos and it says there are 2 errors. No problem I think and I click to go to my first oops. Half of my photos are missing. I'm not going to cry....no, now I need a glass of wine.
Save. Have a glass of wine and maybe some chocolate. That makes everything look better. Then go back when you are all relaxed and happy.

I hate when getting through something is excrutiatijng. It will be okay. We are all pulling for you. Been there, done that.
I dinked around a little more and before I uploaded any more photos clicked submit again and this time it showed 3 errors. Earlier it was 2, then it was 18, now it is 3. Well I am happy to report I only needed to upload one photo (for the third time) and it finally went through. By the way, I am not new to these forms and systems; I really do not believe it was operator error!
I have had better luck bringing a professional camera than using my phone. While I know there are phones with high megapixel cameras, when the audit is a revealed one, I'm just more comfortable with the Canon. The extra time is worth it for me.

Now scheduling travel shops for the day after Christmas through mid-January.
Outside of the apps for quick audit type shops, even with a good mobile platform you still have to click multiple options to add photos to a report.

If your audit was revealed, couldn't you ask for access to their secure wireless connection?

I've discovered that non-revealed shops, that require more than a couple of discreet photos, are not comfortable for me.

I see some audit shops for "deli meats" popping up for example. Non revealed, asking for multiple pics plus answering up to 50 questions. In my mind, I can't imagine hanging out at any deli counter for that long without a manager both engaging me as well as eventually asking me to stop gathering information for the competition.

I know what you are saying. I did a $25 Gigwalk to take photos of the candy at a store. Easy right? There were 7 aisles of candy! I had to take so many photos to capture all of it. 3 employees asked if I needed help but didn't pursue me after I said I was just doing price comparisons. I was very uncomfortable. I had something similar happen at Best Buy...those types of places are too customer focused. I couldn't even finish that Best Buy one. It asked how many of each type of washer/dryer, fridge, stove, etc they have and at my store, they are all intermingled. Menards is easy; they are not so customer focused because they are not living on their sales commission. I have done 3 of these audits and did have to ask where something was each time and when I did, told them I was doing their monthly safety audit. They didn't bat an eye and I went about my business. If question me, I have an authorization letter.

You could ask but it's unlikely they will let you
