Who sets the pay for the shops?

I've noticed the pay dropping for some shops and even the reimbursements being eliminated. Do MSC or the companies (the ones hiring the MSC) themselves set the pay?

From what I've read no one has asked these questions, and this is the general discussion area.

No, you are wrong. This is the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion, not General Chat. This area of the forum is dedicated to discussing particular MSCs.

This forum member has a bad habit of starting new threads instead of participating in current threads on the same subject.

Read the head line for this section again...."Mystery Shopping Company Discussion"....it's not dedicated to discussing any one mystery shopping company. It's a General Forum for discussing mystery shopping issues.

Mod Note:
- The Mystery Shopping Company Discussion forum is for discussing specific MSCs
- The Mystery Shopping Discussion forum is for discussing mystery shopping in general
- The General Chat forum is for discussing subjects that are not related to mystery shopping
This thread has been moved to the Mystery Shopping Discussion forum as it does not pertain to a specific MSC

John always seems to start threads in areas that don't seem quite right like this thread. Maybe he should read it again or maybe we are all confused except John. Lucky we have him to stir things up, right?

I always thought that "Mystery Shopping Discussion" was for discussing general mystery shopping issues and "Mystery Shopping Company Discussion" was for discussing issues with a particular company. Huh. After all these years, John is here to set us all straight.
I will answer your question. I have been a client multiple times and hired four different mystery shopping companies for a total of six different projects. All were banking or retail. In all cases, I have never - ever been involved in setting the price that the shopper received. I was told the cost to me, as the client, for each shop only. The shopper fee was set by the MS company and I had no say in it.

Thank you very much. That's what I wanted to know. smiling smiley

I wanted to give a thumbs up to the mod but I did not want to include the post from the OP. So props to the mod.

ETA: I guess you can't quote a mod post. It blended it with my post.

Excuse me, Johnboy. Who died and made you the forum dictator? In case you haven't noticed, the moderator agree with me that you DID start this thread in the WRONG section of the forum and has since moved it. Instead of stirring of shyt, maybe you should read what the mod posted so you can learn from your mistakes.
@JASFLALMT, I always find is amusing when someone proclaims multiple times that they have toggled me but then they address me directly or quote my posts in the forum. Interesting and amusing.
I haven't been on here for awhile. I thought some here might have changed their ways. I guess not. I had to put them on ignore for good. Thank you MickeyB for answering my question.

Which makes sense. I would imagine the majority of these MSC's are turnkey companies, where the client requests what they want in a final product, then the MSC's return with a lump-sum cost to cover the project (including locations, expenses, etc.)
