Sonic and calories

Just an FYI. I like free meals, but have been dieting. I searched the Sonic website nutrition data and found the best options for me. And they are:

The New York Dog with tots.

The New York Dog has, if my memory is correct, about 450 calories. And for some reason, tots have fewer calories than fries.

Of course, the very best thing is to take a few bites and then go home and eat your unfried veggies. winking smiley

If you are trying to DIE-t, it is best to avoid FF shops altogether since the majority of them, if not all, require certain purchases that you have no control over. I lead a healthy lifestyle so I don't perform any FF shops and limit my casual dining to the ones where I have total control over what I order. Also, no soda for me. And don't fool yourself with diet sodas. I have had more than one doctor say that diet sodas are actually worse for you than a regular soda.
I do the fast food shops and enjoy them, but I don't always consume the full meal. I typically portion out a bit of it and try everything in small sections. I end up with plenty of left overs to take home and can frequently turn my one fast food meal into 2-3 for the full day. Fries and I are not the best of friends, they're okay, but not my usual preference of side. Soda is also one of those things I can take or leave. We've (guy & I) been living together 3 years and have purchased pop once? maybe? If my guy and I go out to eat, we will share a small or medium combo and usually get water or regular ole tea. Of course the fajita at Arby's is another story... That thing is so good grinning smiley

This morning I enjoyed a cup of Ooh Lang tea and some chicken breast with avocado grinning smiley

Ooooh and on the original topic-- Sonic -- split everything in half for that diet time. You can always take healthy things with you to help fill you up along the way so you're not tempted to consume the full combo smiling smiley

Another diet tip.... Taste the bun and tots, but then throw the rest. Carbs are a killer in most diets.

Ex. Get a burger with mustard, then throw off let's say the top bun, if you can't handle eating it without any bread.

If you are going to eat FF anyway, I agree with Tarantado's post. Get rid of the bread/carbs. Get rid of the fried/battered food. Get rid of the salt (sodium) and the ketchup (full of sugar.) Get rid of the soda (or pop as another poster put it) including the diet soda. Some clients or MSCs won't let you just order water so unsweetened iced tea would be the way to go.

TBH, after getting rid of all the crap, is it really worth it to even do a FF shop? For me the answer is no. I have myself blocked from doing all FF shops with a particular MSC. It saves me a lot of time.
I've been making pretty good money doing FF, which is hilarious because I don't eat it at all when I'm not shopping. I'm an organic veggie type foodie snob. I eat little to no meat, and cook my own fresh vegs or eat them raw. I take one or two small bites, evaluate according to the guidelines and toss the rest. I might take it home to my dogs or just throw it in the garbage after I leave if I don't want to smell it all the way home. In the past month I ate one meal because I was starving. I always get unsweetened iced tea. I haven't drunk soda in years. I'm just saying... you don't have to pass up a good fee.
Great responses. Just get a fork and knife, or bring your own, and ditch the bread. You can use the bottom bun on a burger as your plate. Hot dogs also do not eat the bun. Order unsweetened tea to avoid sugar. I eat out often, it is easy to make your meal healthy.

When I do pizza shops after doing everything I need to do for the report I cut the slices in half and freeze them.
If I'm doing a shop that has a self-serve soda machine I get water in the associate provided cup. Or, if they have a fancy Pepsi machine (the one with dozens of choices) I'll get a sparkling water and consider it a treat.

I'm not dieting (nor have I or will I likely ever), but I don't drink soda as a lifestyle choice. This is what I do, too.
Most of the time when I go out to eat on non mystery shops I usually get water. If it is a combo meal I get sweet tea.

Very sledom do I get a. Soda. When I go to the movies I get a soda.

I get an unsalted, unbuttered popcorn and a bottled water (if available.) Or course I wait to order the drink to give the cashier a chance to upsell.

I do some FF shops. I am losing weight and wearing smaller clothes. FF is not necessarily the enemy. If you really need to do these shops for money, routes, experience, etc. why not take a very large view of the FF shops? You never have to have more than one bite of each food item and one sip of the beverage. You might have low-cal or low-fat items in your designated order. One sip and a few bites won't provide many calories, but they will contribute to your income. smiling smiley

Sonic food is not very tasty (my opinion). The shops require the purchase of a dog or burger (since you can't order chicken, BLTs, etc) and they do not do either one of those well: cold burgers with bland beef patty and dogs with rubber cheap highly smokey meat and the worst gummy, doughy hot dog bun I have seen in fast food (like waaaaay oversteamed.). The shakes are like cheap cloying dairy creamer and waaaaay too much air. A real rip of on those. I DO like however the onion rings (big fat peices of real onion in a super crunch sweet cornmeal batter), corn dogs, limeades, slushes, coffee and some breakfast items. The chicken wing tenders are pretty good- eat them fresh they loose their appeal quickly.
I do several pizza shops each month but cannot afford the calories to actually eat it. I cut a very thin piece to taste it and then give it away to a number of neighbors. We tend to trade food and talents. I give my neighbor a pizza and he helps me shovel snow. It's kinda like the old days of bartering. Once in a while I take the pizza to work and my co-workers love me.
