One day last week when I was home putzing around I saw the shops were up to $20. So I decided to make a list and head out and do some of these. (There was about 20 within a few miles from me). My first stop was at a neighborhood bar. I walked in at 2pm and was surprised to see the small bar with almost all seats taken around the bar. EVERYBODY looked at me when I came in. Given my past experience and what karenica said she does, I first asked if they had a beer list. The bartender was confused with my question (dive bars don't generally have them but hey, doesn't hurt to ask). She chuckled and said no so I asked if I could ask her a few questions regarding beer prices for a survey. She started to answer but then someone seated at the bar, apparently, told her she should not do it. Well crap. So I left....with all 50 eyes on me as I walked out. I didn't get paid since I did not get a photo of the bar inside. Actually, I am not sure if they pay when bartenders refuse. I sent Field Agent a note stating why I could not complete it and they replied mentioning how we should be just acting as a normal customer, blend in and ask about prices. Well, that is a challenge for more reasons than I care to state but lets just say, no more! It is just not worth the effort. Bummer....I was excited about $20 x up to 16 shops! $320 had me motivated, but not enough, apparently. I'm sure some people would have no problem just going into the next place and trying again but it just makes me uncomfortable. So uncomfortable I didn't try the bar directly next door. lol
