Thank you Coyle

So you are saying Coyle has sent you to the places above for the week to perform a shop?

Not a single shop. Multiple shops...and they did not "send" me. I selected the assignments, budgeted it out, made a proposal, arranged the travel and made it all work. That includes multiple dining and hotel assignments all grouped together, and sometimes for multiple companies. I don't recommend it for anyone that's not 100% comfortable with hotels.

I also spend a week in Mexico City, but that was not not so luxurious. In addition, I took probably a half dozen local properties to help cover my travel expenses, and that's just since June. My total reimbursement for 2016 on all assignments was just under $50k. I was hoping to break the $50k mark this year but decided to take this month off so it capped off at $49,217.99. It's over $50k with the fees included but I shop for the reimbursements...not the fees.

Oh, ok. I was just flown out for a hotel shop for the first time by a company, so I thought maybe I was on my way to something big!

Edited to add - I am totally about reimbursements and experiences too! Fees are nice of course, but I refuse to order the cheapest thing on the menu just so I don't spend a cent out of pocket.

Doing what I can to enhance the life of my family! I LOVE what I do smiling smiley

In all seriousness....you posted this in a thread about a company that shops hotels.

I can see that you signed up for the forum an hour ago, so do a little reading before posing any questions. All of the answers you are looking for are already posted.

This is how I work it as well. It takes planning and negotiation. I negotiated with one MSC to cover our airfare to Hawaii and two nights at a hotel to do one shop for them. That negotiation primarily worked because I was able to use a portion of my frequent flyer miles to reduce the amount I was requesting they reimburse. With that job secured I coupled it with another MSC's hotel shop and a couple of restaurants. I also did a coffee shop and an airport shop while we were there. We stayed a couple extra nights on our own, but even with the expense of staying the additional two nights, with all the reimbursements and fees paid it cost my husband and I less than $300 to get to and spend 6 days in Hawaii.
Oh I didn't know there were resorts and cruises, that's interesting. I have done four hotels shops so far and many restaurants. I wonder how many hotel shops or shops in general, you need to do successfully to reach the status!? hmmm ..I've heard that the cruise shops are very time consuming (not sure if it was for Coyle or different company)
