So why ask if so and so is shopped? What will you do differently with a yes or a no? You are hoping someone gives you a hidden clue. Well they did. Did you find it? Congrats your strategy worked.
I agree that there is no point to asking that, unless you beieve you will be contacted by someone who will tell you or that someone will post something that spills the beans. But if he words it the way he has worded it, it is not asking blatantly for a violation like "who shops ....?" I've noticed the posts of posters who ask for ICA violations and even those who ask for hints are getting a thumbsdown from other posters. A bunch of those posts have disappeared. So, CANADAMOMMY, if you have a thumb and you don't like it when posters ask those questions, use your thumb instead of arguing. Or report the post to a moderator who can decide.
Waesmaven's idea of offering to refer them to the MSC is a good one. I have made that offer twice. Both times the poster declined. In both cases, the posters did not want to provide contact information to me, argued that it was important for them to remain anonymous but that it was mean and selfish of me not to tell them now that I had said I knew, and that the logical thing was for me to just break my ICA and tell them so we could both stay anonymous. I didn't tell them. Maybe someone else did.
