Kroger

I just received an email from kroger.com asking if I am interested in becoming a Mystery Shopper for them. It's from career@kroger.com (not some weird email address) so I'm thinking it could be legit but wanted to ask folks here. Has anyone else received this type of email and/or done assignments for them? Is this legit?

No, I have not received such an email. My guess is that it is a pfishing expedition. Remember that email addresses can be 'spoofed' such that my gmail address could look as if the message was coming from irs.gov or anywhere else. I would suggest that you go to Kroger's website and look in their careers area to see if there are any such shops listed.
Kroger does not use in house mystery shoppers.

I would advise that you contact Kroger through their website and let them know of the email you received. Perhaps they can shed light on what you received.

They may have a mystery shopping coordinator at the home office in Ohio, however regular mystery shoppers are contracted.
Have they shown up on the board for this year yet? It's a company I haven't worked for in 3 years and rarely log on their board, but I have not received the notifications I usually do. Perhaps Kroger decided to move their program in house? It certainly wouldn't be the first grocery store chain to do this by any means.

.

Kroger shops still going strong.

Yep, Kroger shops are still on the boards. I picked up two for tomorrow. I am traveling for work and one of the shops is in the same plaza as the building I have to go to. The other is in the same plaza as a mystery shop I picked up in the area for dinner tomorrow! What luck smiling smiley I kinda figure I "stole" someones usual shops, though. Ah well, I'm just passin' through and it's $24+$10 in groceries for me. I can make that work for a week if I'm careful.

I think Flash was right-I couldn't find any posting on the Kroger employment website.
I received an email from a friend who used to shop asking about a solicitation for Kroger employee shoppers. She mentioned that it mentioned 'Sears Holding Company', which is completely unrelated to Kroger so obviously a scammer throwing in identifiable names to sucker the unwary.
Kroger shops are still going. I shopped 5 last week and have 4 more scheduled for this weekend. I might have to pick up another refrigerator from the thrift store soon if I don't slow down with the Kroger shops.
Yep. Ive been working the Kroger shops as well. I am tired of purchasing cheese or lunch meat. Im single and rarely eat sandwiches. What do YOU do with all the cheese and lunch meat.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
I don't eat sandwiches either, since I worked in a deli/sandwich store for about 6 years in my youth. However, I can find lots of uses for cheese in recipes. Also, cheese can be frozen so if you don't need it right away you can have it at hand for other times.
Oh, and i meant to say that I just did seven kroger shops last week and have five on my schedule for this week. Gotta love the tax-free groceries. I rarely pay for groceries out of pocket.
I work quite a bit doing Kroger and haven't heard of this. Could it be someone referred you to them?
I work for the MSC that has Kroger for an account. I would email them and ask how they got your name.
To do Kroger jobs, you sign with the MSC, not Kroger, I do at least 12 per month as they have many jobs in my area. My guess with that email address is they are asking you to be a full time employee with Kroger, follow up. I'd guess it's not for Mystery shopping.

I only buy cheese, I get all different kinds and I put a different kind of cheese in my omelet every day.
Kroger does not and is not trying to do their own in-house mystery shops. It's probably a phishing scam. Kroger shops here are scarce, I'm lucky to get 2 - 3 per week and only if I sign up within a few minutes of when they are posted.
I love BH Deli London Broil or low sodium chicken, not a big cheese eater, but a nice sandwich with Cole slaw and dill pickles is a great lunch for me. We also have some that don't have the Deli purchase, i get 2 of them along with the 1 Deli weekly. The Whole Foods sop you can get whatever you want.

I just got ripped off by answering an email from Kroger! Don't do it. Wish I would've read this blog first! Damn!
I am perplexed. Do you all really think these Kroger shops are worth it? They typically pay $12 + reimbursement for some groceries and yes, you usually have to buy meat or cheese. I only do these for bonus' as I refuse to walk around the store for up to an hour and get paid $12. The other company used to pay $27. Loved them much better at that price.
I'm in and out in 30 minutes (tops). I always need something and doing 4 a week, adds up to $56.00 per week, not including all the rewards coupons I get mailed and digital. I just got a coupon, buying $15.00 worth of meat, saves you .5.00. They had a sale, ground turkey $2.77, bought 3 packages + a gorgeous steak on sale for $4.53. Free food works for me, but you have to know how to "work" the program. Everyone has to eat.....

There is no reason to walk around for an hour. If you are doing that it is your decision, not a requirement of the shop. And yes I think they are well worth it.

Well, I respect you all who do them. It is too much work for 1/2 hour for $12 for me. They are also a bother to enter, too many questions, descriptions, etc. I guess doing multiples would make it more worth it but I'd rather get $27 for 1/2 an hour without having to purchase $9 of their merchandise...to each his own. I know Kroger has bounced back and forth between the current company and another so I am hoping they shift back soon.
I don't get doing them either. I do all of my shopping at Kroger but they just don't pay enough for me to do them. It would take at least an extra hour between the shop and the report even considering that I'm there anyway. At $21 an hour or less it's a poor use of my time.

I have been doing them with the current company since the early 2000s.

Yes, they have at times been shopped by both companies at once. And maybe they go with different MSCs according to various states. Kroger was not working for the current company a few years ago in my area. It was with someone else.
I've been doing them (as has Traveliz) for years, and never saw them with another Co., as lest here in CA. where they do them often, having 6 in my town within 4 miles certainly works for me...love to cook and have expensive taste, like Truffle oil....allows me to indulge. I don't look at it as making 5$, I make 17.00+coupons.
Figure I get about 25.00 worth of food.....like an oil change, gotta have it!!!!!

Where do you get 27.00 worth of food for 1/2 hour....I'm been shopping for 10 years, and haven't seen this, and you say your new...what am I missing?

I know exactly what Bella-Do is talking about. The old MSC did not have as many requirements as the current MSC, and it paid $27 with no time requirement or expenditure requirement. In my area the old MSC just lost them in December.
