No difference, just that a single diner isn't as common in these locations as a family or couple at a table. They are looking to evaluate the dining experience. As a former server, a table of 4 will nearly always bring you a better tip than a table of 1. Perhaps they want to keep their servers happy by not tying up a table with a 1-top. I really don't know why, but it makes sense that a single diner would fit in more at the bar than in the dining room.

The bar top allows up to a party of four. There were several couples eating at the bar. Once the dining room is full it is more common to happen.

FWIW you might be better of holding off til later in the month to accept a shop. They usually start adding bonuses around the 3 week or so.

Unfortunately, in my atea, the bonused ones are also the more remote locations.

I did discover that the early bird special would work best for two people with non-alcoholic drinks if you dine at a regular table, then you can stay within reimbursement including tip. If at the bar, you can splurge as an individual.

I guess I get lucky in that respect. Really easy reports to. I'm honestly shocked they don't ask for a bit more information.
Four guests for $25 at the bar? I'd pass on that one.

Double check that time..... used to be six pm

My instructions say to enter between 5-9PM.
I have done dining room at three different locations and the time is always listed as "Must enter 6-9pm"
Keep your instructions just in case..... they generally want 6 pm start since most have an early bird special until 6 pm.

Dinner at the bar starts at 5 PM for me.
I did one last year with the wife and we went after 6 ad we sat in the DR. it was a great date night

Even through I don't drink I am tempted to do one at the bar. Only bad part is that I need to order a non alcoholic drink and most of the time I get water.
I just looked at one of the locations that had all the shops still available. The dining room shops are 6-9, the dinner at the bar shops are 5-9.

I did the bar shop last night and was thoroughly pleased. The service was great as was the food. I did not make it in time to get the early bird price, but that would be a great deal.

Yes, the bar shop is 5-9PM.

With the $25 reimbursement, when dining alone, the early bird isn't really an advantage or necessary: unless maybe you prefer an expensive drink.

I too am happy to do these. I don't get to eat steaks often, so even if it's a reimbursement only, it's worth it. Plus the staff is usually great. The bar shop is one of the easier reports I've seen, and the dining room isn't much more extensive.
A lot of bar patrons here don't order alcohol, so never feel like you need to.
I work nights, so I don't get to do as many as I'd like since I don't always know when I'll be free for dinner, or if I even have time to go to dinner. Which is a bit frustrating because there is one on the board available that is 1.2 miles from my office.
With my schedule it is hard for me to do them. They are gone very very quickly in my area.
I shop Texas Road house about once a month. Easy, $35 suits me and my husband. Wednesday nights in my area have specials. Love the cold iced Coors Beer.
I have seen others that sit for a long time. I wonder why they sit for a while. They have great food.
Some sit due to rotation. Can't shop the same location for XXXX number of days, and some companies don't have a lot of shoppers in those areas.
And quite a few shoppers also refuse to do shops for reimbursement only. That's a personal preference. For many shops I won't either, but TRH are fun and easy so the free (or almost free) steak is worth the short report.
a lot of the report is the same. At the bar they ask you to keep an eye on the bartender and how drinks are served. Still real easy!
They waive rotation a lot at the end of the month. My only issues are their beer list is pretty blahh and the mixed drinks tend to be kinda too sweet at times.
The bar shop is easier (fewer questions) than the dining room shop. I have done it with my husband twice without ordering alcohol and it was fine. He likes that we get fast service, since sometimes you have to wait a while for the waiter to come back to the table for drink refills. Not so at the bar.

On a personal note, though, I prefer sitting at the table, since it seems weird to me to eat at the bar when you are not drinking alcohol. I really appreciate that Texas Roadhouse allows you to order pop (cola, soda). Many bar shops or dining shops with a bar component will require a purchase of an alcoholic drink.

how can you shop once a month when rotation is every 90 days?
There are several locations in my area. They could mean they shop different locations once a month and still wait for rotation to go back to the same spot again.

I also prefer to sit at a table. I also find it strange to sit at the bar without drinking.
I missed out this month. The only one left is 40 miles away. After reading all these posts I'm going to be sure to snag one in February! I prefer the belly to the bar shop since I'll be dining solo. Who knows, could be some nice handsome man dining next to me at the bar. Win, win.

Schedulers also will waive rotation occasionally if they can't fill a shop.
Are bonuses ever offered for these shops?

I must be in the minority on these shops because I pass them up all the time. Not worth the wait at the one up my way just to get reimbursed way less than what you'll end up paying. I like the food but with no pay over top reimbursement? Nope, not for me.
