asking for help yet no bonus/PAD

Hi all,
I've been mystery shopping for over 6 years but just started shopping for a company that does grocery store shops where you ask crazy questions or time how long it takes to get through the check-out line. At least once a week I get a phone call, text or email asking to help with one of the shops still left on the board and the deadline is today. The first time I was asked to do one of these shops I got a crazy bonus for traveling over 40 miles. I think it was because I had the scheduler on the phone and she had to make a decision right away. Most of the time I get no response after I ask for PAD (paid authorized distance). These are not the crazy PAD request I first threw out for the 40+ mile shop, these are a few extra dollars per shop because they are asking for my help and I am making room in my schedule to get them done. I have never had a problem with these shops and always complete them on time with no need for clarification. Just wondering what others do in this type of situation, take the shop if you can fit it in, ask anyway and see what they say, other things? Wondering if I'm being too greedy or they're just tightwads and would rather call/email/text for the next hour to get it filled with no PAD.

I do the same shops weekly, have helped them many times. I once asked for a pad when they called last minute. I really didn't want to go out at 4, and she was begging. I said, well, maybe for a pad, oh no, we don;t have the budget. I always do it, as there is something to buy, but this time it was no. This is their way, I like this company a lot, they pay quickly and always have work in my area...grin and bear it!!

Live consciously....
The last time the MSC contacted me for last minute help, I requested $2.00 PAD. The response I received was "We do not offer PAD on the grocery shops as they always fill." Well, if they always fill, why are you calling ME?

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
After 5 years, I finally asked for PAD. Job was 72 miles round trip. I asked for $10 PAD. I was denied. tongue sticking out smiley
I don't work for any companies that call it PAD, but when I get a call, I ask for a somewhat crazy bonus. End of last month, I asked for a $50 bonus on a Lowes shop. I got it, though I previously was told they won't bonus like that again. This was the third time I've done it for that bonus, and I've decided it isn't worth less than that to me.
Thank you all for your replies. It helps to know that others get turned down for reasonable PAD requests. I will continue to requested them to see if they bite and take them if I can fit them in either way.
I too have been told they don't have the budget. I find that their mileage distance for a store is less than what it really is - so it is hard to ask for a higher PAD. since they go by mileage.
I always wonder why they won't add on a few bucks if they're that desperate to fill the shop. I mean, come on! My time is valuable too!
I try to be reasonable with my PAD offers between $15-$35 but there are $13 in tolls here that I have to keep in mind and depending on my route, it may be unavoidable to have to hit some of the side tolls at another $0.80 a booth.

The job board for my area is way off. There's a shop I do that is about 110 miles round trip and the job board says it's within 25 miles of me. Perhaps it's crow miles.
