New Year...Some Goals...Some Challenges

I really enjoyed reading all the responses to the question about member's goals for the new year. Even though we are only a bit over two weeks into the new year, I am finding myself a bit discouraged. So far, I have received loads of postings from a few different shops about applying for a credit card, something I have no desire to do, and from one msc exclusively about either shopping for a particular car or having services performed on that car. I do not own that car. I have received very few posts from other companies, which is markedly different from last year when each day, the inbox would be flooded. I had registered with one of the services (if that is the right word) that serves as a clearinghouse for several msc. I tried to apply through the clearing house for certain jobs that I had done through the individual msc, such as Sentry, with absolutely no luck. It is kind of discouraging and I find that I just keep checking the MF offerings because that is where I am having the most success. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?

Sounds like yiu signed up with Gigspot. That platform is great for consolidation, but once you sign up with them you can no longer view the individual MSC. I was a beta tester and dropped out because of this. I now access GigSpot using a completely different email address. But, I seldom bother. I'm guessing that's why your emails have died. The individual companies will not send you emails. They expect you to use Gigspot. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info @COMystery. I was contemplating finally signing up with Gigspot. Knowing this, I am not going to bother.
Thank you for your response. I truly appreciate it. I will try to disenroll from Gigspot.
Hi there, I am signed up with GigSpot but haven't accepted any of the agreements of MSCs through them and still receive emails from the individual MSCs for jobs so I simply just use it to see what jobs are available so maybe you can end your account and sign up under another email and just use the job board and not sign for jobs with them. Just a thought...
Hi Lissymarie,
Thank you for your response. I have been trying to remove myself from Gigspot but with no luck at all. I have only been receiving emails from one company and have lost contact with all the others I had been signed up with.
If anyone has any advice on how to remove myself from Gigspot, I would greatly appreciate it.
bgriffin said it right - only GigSpot can remove you.

queenie,
How many MSCs are you signed up with?

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I think I am signed up with about fifteen different companies but only do any shops regularly for about three of them. Thanks to everyone's advice, I was able to get disenrolled from Gigspot but now I think I may have to re-register with a few companies. It has been quite a learning experience.
queenie,
Most serious MSers are signed up with 50-150 companies. If you want to make money, that is the way to go.

And 50 sounds like WAYYYY on the low end!

I signed up with 80+ last year. I find that I only shopped with about 12 of them but I kept them around just in case. So far, this year I've only shopped with 6 companies but time will tell what pops up. I'm planning on adding another 50-100 companies when I take my PTO this month. Use it or lose it... so I may as well get some things accomplished smiling smiley

Also, tried Gigspot when it first came out and it was terrible. I use a different email to access it now, but I usually find that it doesn't provide much help. I find Jobslinger and Presto to be better in my search.

I want to devote some time to registering with more companies. I will probably start working on this over the weekend.
