Excited about tonight's shop!

Tonight I have a shop at an upscale but yet casual restaurant I've wanted to try out for some time but never got around to and good news. Tonight I am shopping them with a $40 payment that will cover the meal and drink requirements and a decent tip. I may net a dollar or two from the experience but tonight it's going to be all about having an experience that I can't afford as often as I'd like to and having someone else pick up the tab in return for the quality shop report they will get in return. And I'm loving the wine menu at this restaurant I just researched online. Usually I don't really get into restaurant shops unless they are at the lower end just a bump or two above fast food but tonight is different.

What kind of wine do you plan to get?

Some days, I am thrilled to get to go to Buffalo Wild Wings or Panda Express because I usually can't afford, or won't let myself afford the luxury! Enjoy the splurge grinning smiley

This is the whole reason I got into mystery shopping. I grew up dining out nightly (whether it be pizza, drive thru, or a nice restaurant). When I moved out, I was a server and always was able to eat at work for next to nothing or free. Even when I worked a "real" job I would dine out for lunch and dinner a lot and it wouldn't matter because I could afford it. I shopped for random groceries here or there but didn't cook much beyond a meal or two a week. Fast forward to married, SAHM life, and dining out was taken away from the budget immediately. So I knew I had to do something.
Today, every month I get to enjoy delicious meals out. Meals that cost half or more of our original monthly grocery budget. MSing meals helps to stretch out our grocery budget as well. I love turning a meal into leftovers too.
I hope you had a fun and delicious meal tonight!

Doing what I can to enhance the life of my family! I LOVE what I do smiling smiley

I ended out with a nice Malbec from Argentina - it was wonderful. My favorite wines - and I'm not a wine snob, I don't have a lot of experience in this area - come from Argentina and Portugal. Argentina for reds and Portugal for white wine.

I like Malbecs. I usually get a malbec when I dine out. Argentina is known for malbecs, but I actually had a really good one from Ohio, of all places. I had it at a local restaurant in Los Angeles.

An upscale restaurant for : $40 payment that will cover the meal and drink requirements and a decent tip. You mention that you ordered wine as well. Pray tell, what entree did you order that kept you under this minimum? Did you dine alone?

Yes, I dined alone. Two glasses of Malbec at $7 each, Pad Thai for $13, tax, and tip. $40 covered it all and it was a pleasant experience. Since I have not mentioned the MSC, I will mention the client - it was a trendy restaurant/bar in downtown Phoenix named The Vig. A little out of my everyday price range but the Pad Thai is one of the best Pad Thais I've ever had.
Loving it, oh my goodness, sounds wonderful! How fun for you! Thank you for sharing. We got Malbec something or other wine on my last job. We are not wine connoisseurs and usually order in the middle of the spectrum under REDs.
Please enjoy! I usually use the dining in shops to have a monthly outing with my 23 year old grandson. He can now order the beer and meets the age requirement for the ID check. Saving me from paying and we both look forward to free good food and a fun night out.
Glad you had fun, squireparty! I myself love the dining shops. Keep your eyes out for the MSCs that offers fine dining with a fee to make your outing even more worthwhile. Those are the real reason I mystery-shop.
I also take my adult kids with me on those casual/fine dining shops. They can try out those alcoholic drinks since I rarely drink. Those shops provided a nice dining experience that I normally can't afford.
