Investment Phone Shop Question (and hidden scheduler gripe)

Hi everyone,

I am signed up to do two investment banker phone shops next week. Seemingly easy on the surface, but the shop instructions left me with more questions than I went in with, especially dealing with what personal information I am to give the banker. The instructions say something about if a phone number is present, I am to make the initial call, and if a phone number is NOT on the shop form, I am supposed to wait for the call, supposedly because the MSC has supplied the banker with a phony referral.

So, I sent the scheduler an email asking for clarification, since MY shop form just has "N/A" written in all of the boxes, and also asked what information the referral would have about me, so I could stay in character. She did not respond. That was last Monday. I re-emailed on Friday, emphasizing that my shop was scheduled for Monday the 14th, and really needed to know how to proceed with the information. Still no response.

This is irksome.

So, is there anyone out there who has done these shops and can help me out?

Thanks!

Not familiar with this one at all. So, what you're saying is that if a phone number isn't supplied, you are to assume that you'll receive a call? And further to that, that the instructions have nothing about the character or scenario you're supposed to play? Something definitely seems amiss here.

I'd bypass the scheduler, and call the company first thing in the morning. Hopefully, the project manager will be available, and give you the answers you need.
Thanks for the advice, Nicelytwicely. That was my thought, as well. Only problem is that the scheduler works for one of the scheduling companies, and not for the MSC itself. I can't seem to find the phone number for the actual MSC anywhere. I am going to try to contact the MSC, and then just do my best with it, and hope for the best. I've gotten myself out of some crazy pinches in the past (example- calling an insurance company for a quote on a homeowners policy, and finding out that I called the company that actually wrote the policy on the fake address I used!) I've never in 10 years had a shop rejected, but if it happens this time, I can say with certainty that it won't have been for my lack of trying!

By the way, I got a Sassie shop reminder from the scheduler today. At least her automated emails are working!
jdfg,
What is the MSG? Perhaps someone here has a phone number that will help.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Yes, that's what I thought, and why I suggested trying to bypass the scheduler. It's possible that they don't have the answer themselves, and are awaiting clarification from the MSC. That said, even that is no excuse for them not getting back to you, if only to tell you that.
Thanks, all. Am I allowed to say the MSC name? I never am sure what exactly constitutes a violation of the IC agreement...
The rule is that the MSC and client are not to be named in the same thread (and definitely not in the same post). No client has been named, so company is fine.
I just canceled a face to face visit with a financial advisor of a bank; 30.00 but it was for an hour meeting and then an hour write up. I have visions of being at the computer all night doing write up.
Thanks again, all. I was able to find the company's phone and called directly. Got a response immediately, and the MIA scheduler was cc'd. She emailed me the next day saying, "I see you got _____'s message. Let me know if you have any questions." :-)
