"How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb?"

I just saw this for the first time, but I'm told it has been around awhile so I apologize to those who have already seen it. I wanted to share for anyone who hasn't, because it made me smile! It could be about any board I've ever joined:

How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to want to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue that it should be moved to the Electrical section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

About half was through I had a light bulb moment, and had to go.

It's funny because it's truesmiling smiley And nobody could honestly say they haven't been in more than one of those groups more than once, hahahaha.

cm really enjoyed that! Thanks for posting! It certainly does seem like we have a bunch of posters here that have also posted on the light bulb forum!

I am very guilty of posting URLs!!! Not so much here, but I belonged to a different type of board a few years ago where no matter what you posted, somebody always replied, "Source?" so it became a defensive habit.

Just in case you need to know, I'm in charge at the light bulb forum. I'm assisted by Alexander Haig and Fox 4 News.

Cracked me up!

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning; the devil shudders...And yells OH #%*+! SHE'S AWAKE!
But you forgot the 15-20 who will debate the merits of using a light bulb scenario for Ace Hardware shops and whether it will out you as a shopper.
Very funny, I needed that...will now turn off my light bulb and lurk.

This topic is great in respect to changing light bulbs. This is the first time I saw this, because in Newfoundland it only takes two to change light bulbs one to hold a ladder and a electrician to change the bulb and this is very costly to perform.
Is it important that I bought an eight foot stepladder two years ago to change out a light bulb in a room with a ten foot ceiling and I haven't done it yet? Should I put that chore on my list?

Probably should MD, although I would replace it with an LED bulb, 15-20 year life expectancy, and uses a lot less electricity, even less than the fluorescent bulbs. I've replaced just about all my lights with LEDs and my electric bill is down about $20/month.

James, good idea, but I have roughly 60 CFLs installed now and several new ones already on hand. As I use up the CFLs I'll switch to LED bulbs.

Our utility company has an 'energy house calls' assistance program and they came and replaced all our light bulbs for free, plus gave us some new lamps!
