Cats are Better Than Dogs Because:

Cats bathe themselves; dogs need a day at the doggie spa.
Cats don't have to find "the perfect place to go"; they are satisfied doing their "business" in a 2x4 litter box; dogs smell every blade of grass, before finding "the most" suitable place.
Cats don't have to be walked every day; dogs need walks to let off energy.
Cats keep your house mouse-free; dogs can't keep up with a mouse, even on it's slowest day.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

Cats don't drag horse manure up onto the porch, where they snack on it in plain sight of their human. (Gag!)

Cats encourage you to take naps when you're tired; dogs encourage you to get up and take them for walks or play fetch even if it's 6 a.m. and you really really need to sleep.

Cats don't bark their brains out over nothing.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Sorry, gotta disagree with the mouse thing. My Rat Terrier and Jack Russell Terrier are excellent mousers. There are videos on Youtube of terriers clearing a barn of rats and then there is this really cool article about how soldiers used to keep terriers to keep the trenches cleared of dangerous rats. [rarehistoricalphotos.com] They are working dogs, bred to kill rodents and can thousands in a few hours. Pretty cool stuff. winking smiley

Maybe I should have posted this is the "dogs are better than cats because" thread? winking smiley

I have 2 cats. One would go after a mouse. The other one would sit there and wonder what just ran by so fast.

Kim
Hmmm...both of my cats play fetch and have brought me their balls to play in the middle of the night.

Maybe my cats are really dogs!

Kim
Oh, I got one...

Cats are better to pet because their fur is as soft as a bunny's fur, or softer. There is nothing better than to gently stroke your cat's head and back and watch your worries melt away in the soft fur. (speaking from experience of course smiling smiley)

Kim
Also, cats are really good at giving massages. Sprinkle some catnip on your back and let the little paws knead.

Cats were worshipped in ancient Egypt. They have never forgotten this.

I know that cats have a rep about being independent and all but when I broke my ankle last year, mine were stuck to my side like glue.

I fell out in the driveway. I was standing, and then all of a sudden, I wasn't. I think there was ice under the snow. Anyway, I crawled back inside, groaning in pain. I was crawling across the living room floor to the phone when Jasper came and laid down right up against me and wouldn't leave me. When my parents came over to bring me to the doctor, Daisy went right up to Mom and started crying, like she was telling Mom all about what happened. After surgery to set the break, they took turns cuddling with me on the couch. They LOVED all the attention and having me home with them all the time.

Kim
As soon as I got home after spending nine days in the hospital because of an injury, both my cats got on my lap and would not move.

Honestly, I've always thought our animals display certain traits because we think they will and modify our behavior. I've had cats play fetch, one who was incredibly loyal to me regardless of who would feed him and they all would come when I whistled.

It is very nice! Until Puddytat gets tired of being patted in the same place half the night and attacks with claws and teeth when I am half asleep.
The dogs scare the delivery people half out of their wits, though, which is good practice for when there really is a burglar.

Dogs and peanut butter. Checkmate. tongue sticking out smiley

(just joking to those wondering)

Has anyone ever wondered why commercial cat food never comes in the flavor of. . . mouse?
Cats purr.

I hope this works. This is a 45 second video clip of a cat saving a little boy who was attacked by the neighbor's dog.

Or just google cat saves boy from dog.
How do these people with cameras get multiple angles on grab shots such as an unexpected attack? I just never have understood this.
I've always wondered the same thing, Sandra Sue.

It was footage from their security cameras.

Cats don't stomp on your foot when you let them in (my 70 pounder has nailed me several times -- ouch!).

Cats can eat all month on a 10# bag of cat food. Some dogs take 40# a month.

Cats keep us from getting too full of ourselves. A dog's worship of its owner can lead us to think we deserve the adoration even if we don't.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Do people really pay money for a cat??

Cats are easy to pick up and conform to your lap. Dogs are stiffer and fight for space on the chair.

You can go away for the weekend and a cat can take care of themselves. Dogs must be boarded.
Really?...uh oh... Jasper...come read this!

Petting a cat reduces stress by releasing mood-elevating endorphins.

Cats would not eat the foot of your new and expensive wood sleigh bed; dogs would chew both the head and the foot of your new and expensive wood sleigh bed, if I, I mean, you didn't catch them in time.

That's always so much fun. And sometimes they make a nice snack for the doggie, who will eat anything.
