Help Needed in Chocolate Search

Well, I'm desperate. Anyone know where I could get this chocolate: Taste of Inspirations Authentic Belgian Dark Chocolate Squares. It has to be the squares. At one point, I was able to purchase it from Food Lion, but now I cannot find it anywhere. By "anywhere" I mean that I searched high and low, but in the end not even Amazon carried this product or any other online store.

I was hoping that one of you nice shoppers might help me in satisfying my craving. Please!

Taste of Inspirations is a Hannaford product. When I lived in Florida, Sweetbay sold Hannaford products. There are Hannaford store in the New England area I think. Where are you?

It appears from a google search that Taste of Inspirations is a Food Lion private label brand. My guess is if Food Lion doesn't have it, it no longer exists.

I learned from my sister who is still in FL that Sweetbay was sold to Winn Dixie - so forget that for your Hannaford products. Delhaize is the Belgian conglomerate who owns the Hannaford stores and product lines. They bought Food Lion years ago, so that's why you saw their products there. I'm sure Delhaize owns other stores in the US, but I don't know what they would be. To keep it straight - the Delhaize Group is the huge European company who buys and sells grocery chains all over. They own the Hannaford label who makes ToI foods. If you have a Hannaford store you should be able to find your stuff there or maybe find someone who does? Good luck.

Now you know the WHERE, you just have to figure out the HOW. winking smiley

(I'm sure there are other Hannaford stores besides this one in Maine, you just have to look.)

Wow, sojo917! That would be sooooo nice of you! I also sent you a PM smiling smiley. I can't thank you enough for willing to check that for me and possibly (gasp!) mail it to me smiling smiley.
I live in Virginia, so there are no Hannaford stores nearby. As far as I know, they don't sell their stuff online. I also sent a message to my local Food Lion and asked them if they will be getting that back in stock. I wouldn't hold my breath, because I only saw that product the one time I purchased it. It doesn't hurt to ask, though!
None of those is the squares variety sad smiley

I think that bgriffin will unfortunately turn out to be right: they probably don't make this product anymore sad smiley.

Maybe the grocery manager at Food Lion knows the bar code. Then you could contact the other places mentioned and ask if it is available. Maybe, since the brand name was a Food Lion product, the manufacturer packages it another way now. It's possible that they use the same bar code as some bar codes are cross referenced by the stores. With the "old" bar code, maybe you can find out other information if it isn't in any local stores.
Well, if you break it up it's squares. tongue sticking out smiley
So sorry it wasn't what you were looking for. Maybe Hannaford just doesn't make it any more. sad smiley

Hahahaha! Yeah, I know how silly I must sound to want the squares and the squares only, but there's a reason behind it: That particular kind is very high in iron. One square will give you 140%. So, i'd have an excuse to eat it every day. And I really want to try to avoid having to take iron pills...Makes sense? smiling smiley And yeah, I do love chocolate!

Maybe! I'm still waiting for them to get back to me... I'd like to give them the 72 hours they said they needed to respond before I start pestering them again.

I went to HFD. I see the TOI choc brand you are looking for but according to the package it is only 44% Fe(Iron). I am assuming that is the whole bar and not each indivdual squares. But the squares is 7 0z. Although you are saying that the TOI candy you purchased was 140% Fe per square, which I see as suspicious, because that would make the 7 oz package would have more Fe in it than an Iron that press clothes.grinning smiley. Although you were only eating a square a day.

You would be better off taking the Fe supplement. RDA for Fe is roughly 325mg a day. You can purchase Fe tablets at a health for store, it does not have to be purchase by prescription. The supplement cost about the same as the candy bar. If you have a Vitamin World in your city, that is a good place to start.

Perhaps the 140% may have been disallowed or discontinued b/c it had too much Fe in it. Thereby causing an Fe toxicity in some peopleconfused smiley If you want the TOI ABC bar, I will surely send them too you.smiling smiley
I am looking at the package of TOI Authentic Belgian Extra Dark Chocolate Nutrition Facts=====>Serving size: 3 squares; Servings per container (7 oz) about 5; -----so if the Iron content is 44%(per 3) then you would have to eat 9 squares to even get close to 140%. There seems to be 18 square package.

Other TOI chocolate packages seems to have 6% Iron.
sojo917, you're really nice for checking that out for me! Thank you! smiling smiley If there is anything I can do to return the favor, let me know! smiling smiley

We have the TOI Authentic Belgian Extra Dark Chocolate at Food Lion, so my husband already got me some. As far as the squares are concerned, I think that you're right when you say that they might have discontinued them because of their high Fe content. I don't think many people read the labels, so with that particular chocolate it was definitely easy to overdose. I actually looked for the nutritional info just to make sure I didn't imagine the squares having about 140% iron: [www.fatsecret.com].

The RDA for iron is actually anywhere from 7-27 mg a day (depending on age and gender), so I'm not sure where you got the 325 mg value? smiling smiley I hope I'm using the correct source for the RDA values I have!
I see from the pharmacy when they send Fe pill to the patients it is usually the 325 mg. I see why you would eat a square a daysmiling smiley. Even the Fe supplement that is 28mgs is only 158 % Fe. But the toxic dose would be eating the whole bar or more in a day.sad smiley

Your dark choc bar was an "iron bar covered in chocolate"grinning smiley
