It wouldn't make sense for the scanner to not be able to do jpeg, and the OP stated that they would rather use the scanner than to take pics of the receipts. I personally have a hard time getting my new smartphone to communicate with my computer, as I want to keep my receipt images on my computer. I have tried plugging the phone directly into the computer to upload photos that way, and it doesn't work very well. My old phone transferred the images with no problem. I also have tried going into the settings on my phone for remote transference, and am only successful about half of the time. So now, I either have to email the pics to myself and download them into my documents file, or open the report on my phone and upload the photos there, save it, and then finish the report on my computer. Such a time-consuming PITA. It's much easier for me to use my scanner for the receipts, plus then I can avoid glare or anything else that can go wrong by taking a photo of the receipt.
