Fainted

Well, I accepted a job as an Ambassador for Coca Cola at Six Flags (first mistake). The lot opens at 9:30AM, and the park at 10::30AM. Nowhere did it say when it opened. Waiting with a hundred other cars at 9:00 wasn't bad enough, when we get in, and walk to the entrance which wasn't opening until 10:30 (it is now 9:40), and well over 100% with no awning or shade. I fainted, had to go to the care office....dizzy and nausea, I had to go home.
Tell me (I 'm not experienced with amusement parks), would you do this for 50.00.....four concessions, long lines,
and a long list of do's......just asking, because I sure did learn my lesson. They made it sound almost glamerous
calling this job an "Ambassador". I'm home in recovery, having learned my limits.....oh yes, I had to pay $20.00 for parking which I won't get back. Talk about a nightmare.

I got an email for something just like that. The pay was $200 per visit which I would have considered if the scheduler wasn't a total asshat. For $50 I wouldn't even drive by Six Flags on a weekend.

Not a chance in the world that I would accept an assignment like that! There are just about very product line of "brand ambassador" jobs in my area. Soda to wine, garden chemicals to housewares, plus every kind of food item. You are so right, the title sounds so much better than demonstrator, or sampler. Crowds are just not my thing anymore, nor walking vast distances in hot an humid conditions.
Keep hydrated. Wen I was in 5th grade I almost fainted once because I didn't drink enough water. It was a hot day and the whole school was doing outdoor activities.

i fainted once in high school... it was in health class so the instructor was able to demonstrate good safe catching technique... i missed breakfast, sleep deprived, and we were talking about blood alcohol content extensively... completely aware but feeling nothing and blackness... you really only realize how much you feel until you are aware that you are feeling nothing at all..

Stay hydrated but you need more than just plain water. You need electrolytes also. I have been sent to the hospital for drinking too much water. Lost too much sodium and had to be put on an IV. (Yes, it is a real thing and can be quite dangerous.) Drink a bottle of water and alternate with a bottle of Gatorade/Powerade/electrolyte drink. Some people like to mix half water and half electrolytes in the same bottle.
I've done this one before and I can 100% say that it was not worth it. The locations were scattered throughout the park and involved a lot of walking in 90 degree heat. They only reimburse you for one admission which is a joke. Sorry you fainted. I personally would not re-shop it.
My first email said $200.00 (why I took it), which was sent by the Scheduler that keeps putting me down on our Forum. I wrote and said I would do it, but only working with another Scheduler, and I would never work with her. Then the job dwindled down to 12.50 per concession, total of 50.00 for the 4 venders. I had already gotten into it. Probably my worst experience in my 9 years of Msing.

Yes, thank you...am back on track and feeling like an Ambassador idiot for buying into it.....however, in my defense, Six Flags is 3 miles from me, so, at least I didn't have to drive. I did get taken for the 20.00 parking fee,
which pisses me off royally. Funny thing, I always hated Amusement parks, but being an Ambassador for Coca Cola...so full of BS.

So that was the same job. When it "dwindled" down to $12.50 a stand I would have had no compunction with saying "See ya later. Bye." False advertising is all that was and the company should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.

What an unpleasant experience! Good to hear you have recovered. I have fainted twice in my life, not a good feeling.

I am very wary of the shops from this MSC as they require more effort than others I've seen.

Shopping Santa Barbara and Goleta, CA.
I did the same thing at my first amusement park;then did it again after receiving excellent first aid (and Powerade). Some of us have to learn the hard way...
OMG Irene, sorry that this happened to you. I'm also a bit miffed in your defense that you did this job for $50. I reached out to the scheduler a little late on this job, and he noted that it was $200 a visit, total of 4 visits for the 6 Flags in my area. The scheduler even stressed the highlight of making $800 for the month, in addition to riding all of the rides that I wanted. If those conditions had changed to $50, I would have easily passed on it and allowed for the MSC to deactivate me. Pure bogus. I don't blame you for not wanting to ever do those shops again.
Here the visits were to be spread out over two months. I emailed then followed up with a voicemail the day the email went out. After not hearing anything for a couple of days I got another email, tried calling again and got the scheduler on the phone. Too bad because I've never before dealt with such a rude, condescending scheduler. In between being an asshat he was crowing about how great he is at being available for his shoppers but there had been a problem with both the voicemail and email. Really? Problems with both, at the same time? Even if he had been professional, just knowing the follow up would be hit or miss was enough for me to say no thank you.

Now emails are coming out from another scheduler for virtually the same job split up into individual visits paying only $60 a pop and still just reimbursing one ticket. You would think they could take a few bucks out of that other $140 and at least reimburse for a second ticket.

Hi Eric...yes, that was the same email, total of $800.00, 200 per visit. I am planning to de-activate, their jobs amount to a Tsp. of pepper (whatever that means)...smiling smiley The lowest paying with the most hype. Their Scheduler advertised that job on this forum, another P____ of S___. Sorry for the language, they deserve it. Onward!!

You put in more work than I did. I sent a reply email, but when I didn't hear I just figured that someone else got the job. Wonder who did?

I did spend all of ten minutes to get that farsmiling smiley Based on what Irene said about hers and emails I've received at the lower rate, it appears nobody got that project because they revamped the program to ridiculously low rates. What blows my mind is a shopper must have taken what amounts to the same job for the reduced fee since it isn't on the job board.

LisaSTL....by the time I accepted and saw the reduction in fee, they had already Fedex me the gift cards to give to the vender, which I returned, the job that keeps giving. I'm over it, lesson learned about trusting.

I was actually referring to the assignment here which nobody was committed to before the fees were slashed so no gift cards had been sent out. You were put in an awful position if they had the gall to drop the fee after sending the gift cards. Even if you canceled immediately they put you on the spot since the time to return the cards would have been unpaid. At this point I usually just shake my head about what a lot of MSCs do while rarely getting pissed off. This one has me riled up. It is proof that a once great company, actually a couple of great companies, have become a joke.

Unfortunately the thread was created about the client so I'm not at liberty to give the name of the scheduler or his company.

Hey what company has an asshat for a scheduler?

Is this a facetious question? Do you mean which specific company has this specific asshat for a scheduler?
What company indeed. A large cast of contenders if you are not specific.
I keep getting emails fo the revised shop that tell me to sign up soon before they're all taken. In my book that's a BIG RED FLAG.

Ten Foot Pole on the assignment, but as long as you are okay, that's the important thing.
Update....these jobs still available, only the name Six Flags isn't mentioned, now it's called "Manufactor" , new heading, same job and pay. Sneaky, but you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure it out.
