Restroom attendants, where they will hand you a cloth towel to dry your hands. Full service gas attendants. Elevator operators.
Neighborhood grocery / butcher shop / candy stores. There were two in my neighborhood. Emma's and Plautz's. Small corner grocery stores. You could get penny candy at either, or a pound of fresh cut beef and everything in between. Plautz's also had all different kinds bird feed, in bulk. Both stores also knew all their customers by name and kept a tab for some of the poorer ones. For the people that couldn't get around too well, they would even deliver their groceries for free. Prices were reasonable, and they also carried the Polish food specialties.
I pulled onto a college campus to take a call from a scheduler. The area where I parked was a college dorm. There was a sad little Verizon pay phone. I wanted to use it for nostalgia, but decided against it.

When I go into areas that have old school Main Streets, I see the little corner grocery stores and meat markets.

I haven't seen a pay toilet since I was a kid in the 70s!

Funny how many of these things I have seen recently and regularly. Neighborhood grocers, candy stores and butcher shops are still around here and Oberweis delivers milk. I can't remember where but I have also seen a restroom attendant in the last five years or so.

It used to be a big deal in NYC, even in moderate income neighborhoods, apparently. I learned about it when All Things Considered did a series on occupations that were disappearing. They interviewed some active and retired guys who had done this for a living and people who remembered having such deliveries. Who knew??

You may not see these things, but it may be because you are not looking for them. I'm sad for you. You live in a different world than I do. I see plenty of them.

As for Truth in university curriculum, Family prayer, and Respect for God, to say these things are lacking reflects your personal opinion and it sounds like you are getting toward political and objectionable.

I miss the milk bottles. More than that, I miss the yellow bakery truck that had rows and rows of doughnuts!

pay toilets

I've seen one in San Francisco. It's near Haight-Ashbury and Golden Gate park. Probably to try to keep the homeless people from sleeping in it.

Yeah... "sleeping"...

Awhile back, a company put pay toilets in NYC only to have people do other things in them. They were meant to provide a clean place for business people and tourists. Instead they became hooker stalls and shooting galleries. Too bad a few people have to ruin things for the rest.

Milk boxes--the kind you would leave outside your front door for the milkman.

I actually have one on the deck in the back yard. We used it at one time for the milk delivery. The cover rusted away and I had to buy a piece of sheet metal at Home Depot, reproduce the old cover and attach the new one. Still works.
Small delivery trucks of ALL types.....I first learned to love avocados because of a produce truck that used to drive on our street (like, 50+ years ago...!!!) calling out "Avocados, 25 cents"...my mom would buy several. And I was thrilled when my mom would buy one of those wooden "cases" of soda pop, with the glass bottles, and you could pick your own flavors! I loved cream, root beer and grape sodas!! You could get 12 or 24 bottle cases of soda...those were the days! I even remember when we had our bread delivered by the bread man!

At least I still see the ice cream trucks of various kinds going up and down our neighborhood streets still!

Yes, but not Good Humor trucks. Toasted Almond was my favorite.
The Jewish neighborhood in San Francisco and I know New York, had barrels filled with kosher pickles outside their store. For a nickel you could pick your own pickle. I use to go with my grandmother.

Wide-open spaces. There are some near me, but generally the wide-open spaces are burning, being developed, or off-limits. *sigh*

Speaking of NYC, I don't see the guys carrying a pole selling soft pretzels. But they are available at a street corner vendor. Also still available in the city and still one of the few lunch bargains are the dirty dogs sold by corner vendors. And also gone is Horn & Hardart's Automat with the little windows with sandwiches, pies and my favorite - macaroni and cheese.
Speaking of the milkman, who remembers getting a small sized milk carton and a graham cracker for snacks when in elementary school? You would pay a small fee for your milk money and get a graham cracker for the afternoon snack.
