Mmmm no, but it sounds flaky. I have a medical transcriprionist degree and most home transcription work pays by the line (about 12 cents), so you might have to do a lot of typing to earn that much. Also odd that any company would throw that out there without requiring some sort of training or certification. Most work from home companies also expect you to have your own transcribing software and other equipment (proper headphones, foot pedal, etc.).
Thanks. Someone else sent me a message and said a lot of the same things as you stated. I decided to pass on it. Thanks for your reply!
Are you signed up with World Alliance (formerly NARMS)? I think I remember reading that you enjoy merchandising? Sign up and put your profile on there and you are likely to get hits for jobs in your area from various merchandising companies.

And now I think I remember already posting that link in a reply to one of your posts, LOL.
Yep! I signed up after you posted, lol. I'm not getting much action yet though. One company contacted me and had work in my area, but they required workers comp insurance. SPAR, I think was the company. I don't have that insurance and I wasn't planning on getting it. Not at this time anyway.

SASR has a job at a home improvement center that I'm really interested in, but I may be too inexperienced because they haven't called. I'm currently listed as backup for a short term project I applied to with them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because it would be great experience and it pays $13. an hour, which is a lot more than I currently make.
Are you signed up with Acosta? They are always looking for people. They hire as employees not IC which works out better at tax time (for me anyway). But they only pay $11 an hour I think starting. The one for $13 sounds awesome!
Right now I make $10 an hour with LMS, so anything above that is awesome. I'll check out Acosta, thanks!
Acosta is a great, and large, company. Be careful with them though because you need to sign paperwork that states that you will not work with any other merchandising company. And that includes many of the mystery shopping companies because they provide merchandising/marketing type of assignments as well. So, on average, if you are getting 12 hours a week with Acosta, where will the rest of your hours come from? Even MF now has some merchandising work so you can't do that work either. Advantage, Crossmark or other merchandising companies do not have the same requirement, you can work for competitors. And, if you want to work for Acosta, sign up for the Mosaic branch, MUCH better pay (if you're worth it).
Thanks for that info spicy. I know a lot of merchandisers who work for Acosta and some of them moonlight, so apparently they either don't know what they signed or don't care. I guess the worst that could happen is termination if they are found out. I work for Advantage but they start at 10.25 (at least that's what I started at 4 years ago). I've gotten several raises over the years, the last of which I had to fight for, and I'm satisfied with the pay so I'll stay. There are things I don't like about Advantage so I don't recommend them. It's feast or famine. This summer I worked steady, but this week and all of November I've got nothing. Many of my co-workers have quit over the past year. I think I'll check out Mosaic for supplemental hours. Thanks spicy!
Thank you for the info! They aren't hiring in my area at this time.

On one hand I don't want to box myself in, on the other- I want more work haha.

The work is so sporadic that I have with LMS. This coming pay is for 5 hours, next week will be about 15. I'd love a little more consistency!
Yeah, they don't know or they think they can slide by. But, the worst thing that can happen is not termination. There are clauses akin to a non-compete form; trade secrets, etc. And the repercussions are financial.
I know, spicy, about legal percussions, but I think alot of it is fluff. Why would they try to squeeze juice out of a raisin? It would cost them more to take a lowly merchandiser to court than it would be worth and in the end they would not get anything. I once had a business where I had to get employees to sign a non-compete clause, but it was in regards to employees quitting and launching their own start-up. Just working for another company isn't going to raise a lot of red flags legally in the court system. I'm not saying to go do it, just pointing out that it likely won't cause the merchandisers who are doing it any trouble. But, since there are so many other fish in the sea hopefully backtowork can find work with another company.
I think I'm going to have to be willing to travel a little bit for more work. I was trying to stay in close proximity to home, but I may have to spread my wings a little!

I emailed one company, ATA, they had a whole route posted with 9 stores not even remotely close to each other, yet their ad said must live in or near the stores posted. It's not possible, lol. They said it is 16-22 hours a month. I asked them if they would consider giving me the two stores in my area, but they said no, they do not want to break up the route. That ad has been running for months! ah well....
i didnt get through the application process... they have a 2:37 audio that you transcribe and it was really really tough.. i figured that the pay definitely wouldn't be worth my time... im slow as a typer and make a ton of mistakes...

i did a few days through advantage ... pay was low $10 an hour to start and it was annoying they also promised me 22 hours a week but i only found 1 assignment through a chain pharmacy for a day and the rest were way outside my area... the one job i got i worked with a lead and it took the two of us 3 hours to set up a really cruddy display ... so much of the stuff was missing or bent ... it was only supposed to take an hour for two people... so nope, they probably would not have paid me more than an hour or two if the lead had not been there

i have worked with a number of merch companies all have been through world alliance job postings: i have done advantage, premium, mosaic, summit,SAS, IRI... advantage was probably the worst of them they were the only ones that did not give me the hours they said they were... rest of the companies were spot on

advantage is no fun... not as bad as some of the cheap movie displays that another site posts but still...

in PA and TX as well as two other states they can only take your assets away... civil suits can not go after your pay... they can sue... win... and get nothing... it just ruins your credit for up to 21 years

also in PA it costs $175 to file a lawsuit and a whole heck of a lot more to pay an attorney so most people dont do it...most people dont really look into it... they would have to go through the IRS

i have worked at mcdonalds before and they forced me to sign a non disclosure agreement ... i still mystery shopped around... yes because i work at a fast food restaurant i can not tell if a steak is cooked, a drink is cold, and am completely blind when i go in bathrooms...

i am done working at mcds... i miss the endless diet cokes with sugar free french vanilla, leftovers, and free salads... but they did away with those a short time after i left anyway... so whatever
