WHY IS THIS FORUM SUCH A COMBAT ZONE?

Evidently the OP has been deleted but I can't resist.

This forum is not a combat zone. We simply have differences of opinion because we are not all the same person. For anyone who can't tolerate a little conflict, I suggest cloning yourself to find someone completely agreeable.

Well Mary, I do believer there are some posters in here who have more than one screen name but are indeed the same person. I think there are some who find a way to join and post with multiple screen names with the intent to harass and ridicule others. I don't get the strange juvenile pleasure in disrupting what should be a great place to bounce ideas and learn from one another. And there may be some who get banned and then create another new screen name, again with no other intent but negative disruption. It's both sad and irritating.
Because people do and say things under an anonymous umbrella. Why did YOU the OP start a thread without identifying yourself. I saw this posting when it first hit the forum. There was never a screenname attached to the post. The post was a title only.

CoatClosetCommando did not deliberately not identify herself. She posted intending for her post, under her screen name, to be seen. The forum has blocked visibility of her posts. Not just this one. All her recent posts are invisible in the threads she posted them. Voted off the island?
I see. It gets confusing when a post is removed, not the entire thread.

Thankfully, at some point, the moderators are fed up with the malicious and hateful, disruptive things some decided to be known for and have banned that screen name.

Unfortunately, some just have so much hate in their hearts and so much vindictiveness that they don't care who they hurt, what they say or what they do.
It's really a troubling sign of our society at the moment.

I am saddened by the fact that some find it necessary to tear others down and destroy the good many of us are trying to do. It's really a terrible reflection on them and their self-esteem. Unfortunately, others get hurt in the meantime and worthwhile ventures are negatively affected.

Why show anything of her/him..removing the entire thread name and title seems less confusing.

I have noticed a few nasty individuals on this forum, though, who have been here quite a long time. I like the helpful shoppers who provide thoughtful answers, constructive criticism, and detailed information. Not the jerks who are always saying something against the new shoppers. They/We all want to learn -_- belitting doesn't help learn so much as it just ruins the newbies confidence.

Agree, clinen. Some of what goes on here with regularity reminds me of a junk yard dog on a short chain. Please make use of whatever is helpful and disregard personal attacks.

Hard to ignore personal attacts when they're happening to you...We will lose members (it's happening already), I know of two and the newbies won't return when asking a question that doesn't meet a certain persons standard and is made invisible...how humiliating.

I get it, Irene, and kudos to you on how you've handled some of those attacks. Not much can be done to change anyone's attitude and I'm pretty sure most of us are not here to admire the ill tempered. It's great that 99% of the forum members (maybe more) have a pleasant outlook on life and live on the bright side of the street. Think back over the past several years and stay aware that agitators eventually tire of us. Of course, we'll get new ones but at least they'll be somewhat different. Sort of.

Many of the new folks on here probably started out like me. I worked for one company for two years before discovering other companies. I didn't know there were shops beyond fast food and grocery chains. It blew my mind all the interesting places waiting to be mystery shopped. I only recently discovered this forum, which has been a great help!

Yes! Underneath the sniping and snarking, you found the core of solid information. Good for you.

I've been shopping since 1990s and can give a lot of assistance, if people need, clinen11. I started out doing restaurants, bank inquiries and car washes/oil change. Now I primarily do video and shop full-time. I had to learn by the school of hard knocks. I try to help others because my beginning experience was not the best. You just have to know the right people who have valid advice.

Being our Industry is a solidarity work, the forum offers a place to share, feel connected, learn and if lucky make a few friends, which I did (and you know who you are). The few that encourage this mean behavior
know better,., maybe get off on it, who knows. I find 96% of the forum beneficial to me, enjoy various topics,
and really love to help anyone that needs a bit of advice. We all shop in our own way, so the differences are
interesting and say what you will, we're in this together. Carry on friends, I took care of my problem, but am saddened to see others that are picked on. Being one tough old broad, I always survive.......and yes Mary,
the sunny side is better.

I disappeared from the Forum for a while when I was a newbie here. I felt I just could not take the venom spouted by those who come out of the woodwork for one reason or the other as if in competition. But the Forum is a source of valuable information and generous kindred posters. Their honest kind-heartedness shows from their posts.

It had become a habit for me to check out what's going on in the MS world every now and then. This is the only message board pertaining to mshopping I want to be a part of. When I had to euthanize my beloved Panda, I even came here. When in a few months my first pet died, it became easier. Somehow, without knowing it, one developes a certain kinship.

We are individuals. We cannot be thinking in the same way, writing in the same way, acting in the same way. If there are misunderstandings, it should not turn into a combat zone. This is not a competition as to who can get the attention of the moderator first. We have more important things to do. Speaking of which I have a deadline to meet. lol
Sometimes tiptoeing through the tulips, one will step in doggie doo. The forum has a tool in place to wade through combat zones, i.e. the toggle feature. I have never toggled anyone, but I am aware and ignore trolls, snarks, snipes, and combatants.
