May need a new phone

I own a Samsung Note 4 that has done the job, but not what it was supposed to do for the amount of money I paid for it. It's having issues. I'm hoping the issue is the battery.

If it isn't. I need recommendations for a new phone. We buy out right. I'm considering going back to an iPhone.

I have no clue and this why I'm asking for help. Phones are stupid expensive. I use the phone for hotspot and work with some companies that I only need to work with their apps.

These days with most plans it's less expensive to lease the phone than it is to buy outright. We have plans with AT&T. I have an LG Vista that I DON'T recommend. My previous LG was the LG2 and it was great, so I thought the LG Vista would be good but I was wrong. My stedaughter has a Samsung Galaxy Edge that she loves. I think there is a Galaxy 7 (not the one that was recalled which was the Note, I believe) that I would get for my next phone. My husband likes his iPhone but I think that Android is a better platform. If I was going to get another LG, I would get the LG 4 (unless there is a 5 out now).
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 (not the exploding "Note"... just the S7), and I love it. But it's stupid expensive. I also have an iPhone for work, which I don't like as much. It's really about personal preference and knowing what you will use and what you need. As dumb as this sounds, I found the cell phone shops I did prior to buying a new phone (also a shop... ha!) to be pretty helpful. The carriers don't much care which phone you buy as long as you switch to their plan, so they're fairly objective (in my opinion) about recommending the best phone for your needs.

That's my advice: pick up a couple of wireless inquiry shops, and use the opportunities to play with a couple of different phones. See if you can get a rep to suggest something reasonably priced that will fit your needs. Good luck and let us know what you get, @MA Smith

When my old android shattered, I needed a new phone. (No one wanted to fix the phone because it was old. But it works! Hmmph.) Also, I wanted a phone that had a good enough camera to take images of receipts. I wanted an iphone because I wanted a change.

I bought an iphone and was disappointed.

Then, I bought an extremely inexpensive android. This doesn't have a great camera, but it does everything else that I need from a phone. Even if it doesn't last as long as a more expensive phone, I can replace it in future for less money than it would cost to have a more expensive phone now. If it lasts as long as my other android, it will probably outlast other, more expensive phones.

I have cameras and continue to use them. Maybe, someday, I will bother about a more expensive phone. Or, not.

That's what I did - some phone shops. I ended up switching back to Android from an iPhone. I purchased the Galaxy 7 and I've been really happy with it. I like much better than iPhone; but, it's a personal preference.

I second this post. I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I have used iPhone and Windows Phone in the past and so far the Android is my favorite. Way easier to use than an iPhone and has more app integration than either of the aforementioned platforms.
I purchased a new, unlocked Galaxy 5. Does great. Under $250. Pleased with it. Fry's Electronics.

If you have a Best Buy in your area, try to get the phone shops for there. The Best Buy associates are neutral and very helpful since they do not work directly for those companies. Ask them for recommendations. They can give you the pros and cons of each phone/companies.
Thanks to everyone with your experiences.
The new battery arrived about an hour ago. It's plugged in so it will charge up. I plan on running it down after it's fully charged and then recharging.

There are shops I need audio. I don't need a flake because the phone died in the middle of the shop.

Not being a heavy duty techie, my Android is great, has an excellent camera and when in doubt, my AT@T
always helps, service is the best, bar none. I do everything I need and really don't use many app's.
My daughter got the Samsung 7 and loves it, uses it all the time and does business skyping on it.
Decide what you need and go accordingly. I'm doing Best Buy tomorrow, so, may look around, sometimes

iPhones are all I and my entire family use. There are features that we use to coordinate with each other. Picture quality with a 12-megapixel camera is hard to beat. It has a timer down to the seconds. Mine has 256 GB of memory so I download all of the mobile apps that have been popping up with MSC's and can take as many pics as I want til I feel comfortable on a shop. The batteries have a much longer life on the 7's. The 7 Plus screen is pretty large for a cell phone which allows me to take notes or text myself shop details. Most wireless carriers will pay a chunk towards your new phone up to $650, if you have a trade in, to get you to switch to their company or to add their home services (at AT&T right now.)
I have found that you can usually get a better deal purchasing through Best Buy. Weather it is a better carrier price or $200 worth of free Best Buy gift cards.
I get to choose which phone and accessories I want but I have no control over the provider or the plan. I am Android all the way.
