Marketforce did something with MY SOCIAL SECURTIY NUMBER... WARNING

Hi, I have been a shopper for 15 years and just started Marketforce. They did something with my SS number and credit. I also got a letter from the IRS telling me they are in request to AUDIT ME for the last 7 years. I completed a few shops with them this past week and completed them with ease but. They will not work with you at all. I asked about my SS number and they would not comment. Time to quit this company only a week in. My friend was terminated last year from them because he did too many shops...He said is record was clean.. how is this?

If you just started with Marketforce that is going to be unrelated to any letter from IRS. IRS moves with the pace of a snail so it is probably something with your 2010 return that flagged your return. I have never seen any Marketforce even soft hit my credit and I am pretty sure they were never authorized to check my credit. I have been signed up with them for years. It is standard for Marketforce to answer very few shopper questions or accusations that are not directly related to the instructions to perform a shop.
It is standard for Marketforce to answer very few shopper questions or accusations that are not directly related to the instructions to perform a shop? That sounds like a very poor run company. Also, I just found out the IRS was due to Marketforce...... There is an western branch office near here. Also, if you signed up with them for years, how do you know policy internally did not change for new members unless you work there? Something is am not comfortable with I guess.
Wow, can you refine those accusations so A (IRS sends letter) connects to B (MF's fault)?
The IRS cannot audit the current year. No return has been filed yet, so there's nothing to audit at this point. Tax years 2010 and prior would be on the IRS radar. I don't understand how your recent registration with MarketForce could have drawn the attention of the IRS. What western branch are you referring to? IRS or MarketForce? Be careful and make sure this request to audit is from a legitimate, legal agency.
The only thing that makes any sense to me would be if they attempted to verify your SSN and something came from that.

Back when I got married, in 1980 something, it was not a requirement to change the name on my SSN. Remember this was pre-911 and Homeland Security. Initially I filed taxes with a hyphenated name and then eventually just dropped my maiden name. It wasn't until taking a new job in 2003 that their SSN verification showed the discrepancy in my name and I was forced to put together a ton of paperwork showing I was in fact the same person all of these years!

As a friend pointed out, "What is the point in getting into a pissing match with a shopper?" If they feel they have functioned properly within their parameters they and most companies will avoid pissing matches. Sometimes when I have asked non instruction questions I have been told, "You will just have to trust our systems for that." Talk about a non answer! But I understand on a certain level and if I were running an MSP I would probably instruct my employees to give a similar non-answer to things that were not directly related to performing shops.
Got me.... Strange... Oh well...

My self I think she wanted to vent and she used a number of issues that don't seem to be connected at all. reefshoe good luck with your IRS audit.
A seven year audit is a deep dig. This is not about signing up with Market Force and furnishing your SS number. Look elsewhere for who or what pulled the trigger.

Perhaps MF issued a 1099 and she did not claim the income. Even if your income "disappears" due to expenses, mileage and such, IRS wants you to write it down. If you simply ignore a 1099, the IRS gets their copy and can flag you.

That makes sense. The 1099 can come from any source.

That of course is true, but if he/she just joined MF there is no possibility that MF has had an opportunity to issue a 1099. 1099s for 2011 work will not be issued until early 2012 and used in preparation of a return for 2011. And even there, with the fees that MF pays it would be a challenge to earn $600 during the 3 months remaining of 2011 to get a 1099 for the year.
I think some unscrupulous business is selling malfunctioning tin foil hats at deep discount.
I am guessing based on Reefshoes other comment in the Market Force termination thread and the fact that they posted a thread 2 years ago asking about other companies like Market Force makes me think this person has been working for MF for awhile and evidently has an axe to grind.

Only the finest, recycled foil hats are good enough for this house.

But what if he-she joined Shop n Check, Certified marketing, or any of the other MSCs that have been "eaten" by Market Force?
While it is theoretically possible, those buy outs have been long enough ago that the accounts would have died/gone dormant if not used and the OP would be complaining that the website indicated they couldn't sign up because they said he/she had registered already.
No idea. I did see the post from 2009, so "just signed up," might have meant "haven't shopped for a while..."
Whenever someone with few posts writes a bash against a company, I usually look to see what else that person has posted. I noticed when he did his first MF bash that he had posted a couple of years ago asking for other companies similar to Market Force because of the self-assign. I assumed that meant he had been working for MF in 2008. His MF posts in several places make me think he has worked for them much longer than a couple of weeks and has become disenchanted with them over far more than a couple of assignments over a couple of weeks. If he has worked for them since 2008 it makes sense that he might blame them for his tax audit. Otherwise it makes no sense.
Market force has and had more then one area to sign up for.. so yes, I have worked for the Purple in the past and still do. All my taxes are written strictly from week to week and filed correctly as I am not in worry about this.
Reef, same here. Got dropped last night and worked this company for years. Pleanty of really good companies out there that will work with you and not use you.
