I have done about 5 CE shops. I would say to be diligent, apply to anything they send, get on board with one shop, and eventually they will "select you" time and time again....smiling smiley
Keep trying and do the smaller end jobs, that will get you in for the bigger ones, like their nice Hawaiian restaurant. I love that Co.

You and I are in the same boat then. They've got some great shops around my area, but alas no luck in getting approved. Keep trying is all I can say.
My first shop with them was a low paying one. I took it and wrote an outstanding report. It was an investment, which opened the door for bigger and better shops with CI.
I had a similar experience to Mert.

My first shop was a hard-to-fill location where I happened to be staying. It was a nice shop, but in a remote area with few shoppers and was immediately assigned when I requested it. Once I got a good score with that shop, others opened up.
Ditto to what Steve said. They don't have a lot in my area, but after I got on the board, I've had no problem picking up other shops.

Same here. I have also noticed from talking with local fellow shoppers that your ZIP code and education level seem to have a huge impact on the higher $ restaurant shops.

Until after the tornado when I moved to this ZIP, I was never offered the super high end steak shop.

Their rotation requirements are ridiculous for some of the restaurants, also.
How smart do you have to be to order and eat a dinner? I don't have a PhD, but my money is real....and I can write a narrative. Sheesh.

When it costs +/- $200, apparently pretty damn intelligent and write a well above average narrative.
I have done quite a few shops for them but haven't seen any quite a while. They have great dining shops in a nearby city.
I have done 4 shops for them so far. I have waited and then not been assigned a few shops, as well. I really enjoy the restaurants they shop in my area. I just apply and pray!
I'm up in the mountains of AZ and have only seen a western wear shop through them.I've done 4 of them (in different cities)and I'm doing one again today. Now that you mention it, I'm puzzled to why I have only seen the one western wear shop from them. I have liked working for them. The report has been an 'Ok' one to do.

just keep responding to the emails that they send you. that's what i did, and eventually i got a fine dining shop. it took a few months for me to get a shop with them. however, the narratives on the questionnaire were quite extensive. there is only so much that i can describe food, writing five to six sentences about each appetizer, plate and dessert, lolol. but if you're into food, then it's okay. i'm not a cook. i have no idea the names of flavors and stuff like that.
I can only think of one 'fine dining' in my whole town! We are hurting for good restaurants here. Because it's a collage town we have a lot of 'dives'.
I tried getting the nice steak shop...no luck sad smiley how often do they post jobs? All are gone around me.
I have a PHD and decent income...not seeing any fine dining shops here...lol.

A PhD if anything means you are booksmart and can following an institutional level weedout process for people who like to operate out of the rules. When in reality its people who don't follow the rules who make progress (by definition, exceptional = an exception to the rule). Here getting a PhD was about figuring out how not to annoy the old farts while making as many strides as possible towards breaking the rules in secret. I think that can help, a LITTLE. I also suppose if you have a zillion applicant you have to weed them out somehow. Income makes more sense to me.

But I wouldn't say the average PhD is smarter than say, a person at the same school with a B.S. degree because of that training.

I always say my IQ is the same or a bit higher than Bill Gates and you can see how far that got mewinking smiley

I don't know about you, but having a free lunch is worth more to me than being able to pay for it out of pocket
But there is no such thing as a free lunch, it will cost you a 1 to 2 hour report, LOL! I would much rather pay for lunch, have as many cocktails as I want and not worry about whether the app was delivered in 4 minutes and 37 secondssmiling smiley

Tangent - but - I am very sure going to a seafoood buffet sounds good, then you do it 20 times and not only get bored, you get sick. I can bet you being at the top looking down its like "it's so empty up here." Real happiness is derived from others, and money can only help by amplifying what you already have. Doesn't mean I'm gonna act like a bitter snob and not try to climb the ladder, cause life is about improvement isn't it!
You misunderstood. I have no desire to have Gate's money and already dine out as often as I like. It's a great relaxing way to get a break from mystery shopping and my preference is to focus on my some great food and my dinner companion(s) rather than timings, etc. I'm one of the people who actually does this for a living and it can be too easy to have it encroach on every aspect of your life. To minimize that I've drawn a line. Granted it's drawn in sand and shifts on occasion, but mostly it serves it's purpose to separate fun and worksmiling smiley

BTW, a seafood buffet sounds frightening, LOL!

Ah I understand. My mom and I find it to be very fun. Gives us authority. But my girlfriend I'm sure sees it as a burden and doesn't appreciate it as much as she could. I don't know about full time job (unless retired) but it is certainly a labor of love...

Yeah, nothing sucks more that having to think like a shopper all the time. I one thought about making a clever video recording system where I could just log events by pushing a button, and returning to those time indexes when I write the report later. Things like nametags and all timings would be on video.
Great company to work for. I have done a lot of shops for them and they are great: easy to work with and paying on time.
They have a long rotation for the steak house, once a year. There Hawaiian
restaurant seems to be about four months, but they have 3 different locations here, so, hang in, it will come your way. I did there Western shop (ugh) to get my foot in the door, and now get offered the good ones....time, it takes time.

Live consciously....
I value this company, too. Started out small and had to prove myself and now I'm receiving the higher up shops. Shopped a fancy Hawaiian one last week. My experience is much like that of SteveSoCal and Mert, as well. Get a good score and doors, or in this case, emails open up to you. So far, I've found the reports to be reasonable and not outlandish, as some I've encountered in the past from other companies. Prompt paying, as well.
I was getting a little jealous reading about all the great dining so I looked them up and realized I did my first shop for them yesterday, a car wash in CT. My car ended up looking like it just left the showroom. Oh I got a 10 for the evaluation.
