Monterey any comments?

I got an email with a local shop but I feel their sign up forms requite TOO MUCH personal info. Has anybody shopped for them, do they pay?

I have done a few shops with them. They pay well and on time. That is what matters to me!
I would appreciate any inputs on Monterey. I have gone to their web site and noticed that they require $100,000 car insurance coverage in both injury and property damage.

I haven't asked my ins. co yet to find out how much this would be. I did do a search on them and most of the threads seem out dated.

I had seen a car shop for a high end car that was offering $150.
If I remember correctly, that shop also requires you drive a vehicle worth around $50,000 plus.

When I was reading through the stuff it sounded like you could borrow a higher end car. Do you know if they do medium to lower end vehicles?

smiling smiley For $150. , I'd invest in a shopping outfit, do a manicure and make myself very believable. I can't see that the report could be any more detailed than a $15.00 one, that these companies expect novellas for.

Does anyone know about the car insurance angle? Shouldn't dealerships have insurance to cover problems?
Of course you could borrow or even rent the appropriate vehicle. I can't tell from your gender from the post, the assignment is for male shoppers only. Monterey reports for other clients are some of the easiest. Most of the time with a Prophet company you can review the guidelines and even see the report prior to accepting. Around me they have some mid-range clients, $36,000 to $50,000, but nothing lower. For personal reasons I carry higher insurance on my vehicle and haven't even noticed the requirement for their other clients. Because of the demographics I've never looked at the guidelines for this one.

Well CRAP!

The insurance requirement is general for the site. What I don't "get" is if you didn't own a car at a given time, you wouldn't be paying out car insurance. Part of my question is "Wouldn't a dealership have coverage for test drives?"

Why is the implication there that the onus of any foul up is going to be on us?
A lot depends on the state. I did a car shop in Florida and the dealer offered to let me take a $100,000 German sports car home overnight [I could probably name the make since they aren't a client of Monterey, but I choose not to in the spirit of Forum rules]. I told them I wasn't comfortable because I was visiting a cousin and not totally familiar with the area around Tampa. The salesman said, "As long as the dealer tags are on the car, you aren't responsible in the event of an accident."

I've had some salespeople take me out for test drives with no dealer tags, just the paper tag advertising the dealership.

I love most of the Monterey shops. The reports aren't that hard, and the shops are fairly easy too.

stay away from Monterey, I did over 100 shops then they deactivate me saying that they tried to contact me for additional information even though they never did and then they delayed the payments. They used to be a great company now they are going down hill.
Didn't that happen five or six weeks ago when you originally posted about the issue?

I gotta admit that I love the way Monterey works with me. I called them to add one of their shops to my route today. I explained that I would be on the road all day and the deadline was extended 24 hours...no problem at all.
