They have had a notification on their site for days!

worst case just submit before 10am (their site is back online as of the time of this posting) contact them and let them know you were caught in the maint. window
Yes, I contacted them. I am on my way to work, and have a break at 9:00 am. I told them I could write the report between 9:00 and 9:30 California time, but Carly told me I would still be deducted $2.

Seems outrageous that they wouldn't extend the deadline just 2 more hours based on the fact that they were updating their system. There's no reason that they can't extend special consideration for a situation that is beyond the norm.

This will be my last shop with them.
I really like Bestmark but this does seem a bit weak they are punishing you when they made the window for reporting smaller........
Companies have to learn how to man manage their employees and partners.
This kind of stuff doesn't make people go that extra mile when they need a job completing at the last minute.
Life is full of grey areas and every situation should looked at on its own merits.

I ran into a "site down" situation on one of my first shops. I remember I emailed my scheduler and asked if they would accept it late and she said fine. I don't think it was Bestmark though. If anyone tried to dock me for a late report when it was their fault, I also wouldn't work for them again. We work hard enough for a pittance for them to punish us for what is THEIR fault.

I liked your post, only because of the last line in it.

That is completely irrational that they are still deducting the $2 when it was THEIR site that was down. I've done a few shops for them, only one that I actually liked, and I haven't seen that one in a while. Their pay is pretty much bottom of the barrel for what is required to begin with.

Sheesh!

Practitioner of the Nerdly Arts.
I actually called back one more time yesterday morning and got a different scheduler, Jen. I told her that I work with well over 40 MSPs, and I am used to all of them being understanding when special situations arise.

She was more willing to work with me than the first scheduler I spoke with. She told me that the $2 was automatic at 10:00 am Central Time. But, if I get my report done in the time frame that I promised, then she would take it to her supervisor and have the $2 deduction reversed.

I won't know for sure if this worked out until they change the status of my report from pending to completed.
They will honor it, I personally Like BestMark the best. They have been understanding with me every time i have needed it. The system does automatically ding the payment but if you contact them for a legitimate reason (maint., areawide internet outages etc) they will work with you, sometimes you get a new person on the phone and they dont know the rules or exclusions. Just call back again.
Glad to hear they got it worked out for you.
