Market Force not recording who they assign shops to?

I recently signed up with Market Force. So far, knock on wood, I've had good luck with them...until today.

I received a call on my way home from doing shops this morning. Market Force asked if I'd be interested in doing a cell phone audit at a big box store, and offered me $50. I said great, that I'd be home in about 20 minutes and could accept at that time. I get home, accept the audit, call the store to set up the appointment and, lo and behold, the manager tells me he was called 2 days ago for this same audit and it's scheduled for 4:30 today.

I've tried the helpline, but it keeps timing out before I get a real person. I've left a message, but I'm not holding my breath on getting any answers.

Is it typical for Market Force to assign the same audit to multiple people?

It wouldn't be so bad but, to rub salt in the wound, I passed over 5 shops to do this. Now I go back and the shops have been picked up.

Perhaps the first shopper flaked (but didn't tell Big Box) and that was why you got the call?
I'm thinking that too BusyBee. The first shopper flaked and they needed to get you to do it at the last minute hence the $50.00. I would go ahead and make the appointment anyway and do it, if it's assigned on your homepage.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll call the store in the morning and ask when is convenient for them as I'm open this weekend.

Slightly different scenario. Several months ago I accepted a cell phone audit at a store that had been audited just a few weeks before. How did I know it had been done? I was the auditor. I called, spoke to the Help Desk and they assured me it was not a reshop, a second audit had been ordered and it was fine if I was the auditor again. When I called to make the appointment the manager said there was no way it was correct and referred me to the district manager. She told me the additional audits were an error and she could not figure out why the hell it was happening, but under no circumstances did she want another completed at the same location. She was actually quite nice to me, but expressed frustration with MF. I reported it all to MF and got a whopping $3 for my effort.

Does it sound like the right hand knows what the left is doing?

That has happened to me on a few occasions; twice with supermarket shops, and once with a FF shop. In the syupermarket shops scenario I got a frantic call from my scheduler telling me not to go if I had not already saying that they had double assigned those shops. With the FF shop I got a call right after I left the drive up and had already done the first half of the shop. They paid me for that one.
Lisa,

STL as in St. Louis? Hello from a friendly competitor :-D I'm more IL side though.

I have told many a scheduler, when someone goes missing in St. Louis, East St. Louis is where they usually find the body.

It basically hasn't change in 40 years or more and I don't expect it to any time soon.

Although I hear that part of the area surrounding the university has become a place not unlike ESTL.
Haha I've noticed that a little bit Seth.

And no. I stay away from East St. Louis, Cahokia, hell anywhere near there on the map. I don't know the area well enough to even ATTEMPT to.

Nice to see some people from my neck of the woods :-D
I did a cell phone audit and was told at the store that they had just been audited a few weeks ago. It never even occurred to me it could be an error, I just said maybe they were doing a followup. I did the audit and got paid and have done four other of those audits since. I wouldn't even question it if they said one had been done a few weeks ago, but it does seem odd that if the shopper flaked, they wouldn't have notified the store and told them to expect another auditor. Maybe they didn't realize the first shopper had gotten as far as making the appointment.

I've done a lot of shops for Market Force without any issues.

I pray it does not occur that the last thing I did before I died was vacuum the house or eat broccoli.
I was born in St. Louis many, many years ago. Certainly more than 40. And I knew from early on: Don't go to East St. Louis.
Or may be MF has certain performance restrictions on their contracts with that client, eg time to report after the audit was performed, and it is less expensive for MF to send another auditor. I know they double book certain ff locations when they are on deadline (verified both by a scheduler and I bumped into a friend/shopper once doing the same meal).
