Another CRI internet post...

I know there has been many post on this so bear with me veterans. I am just aggravated. I have been using Firefox for reports. I have finished 10 without a problem. Number 11, I received an email stating that I didn't use IE and need to resubmit my report. I went on to chat with a rep and asked her what to do. She said to google it. I stated that I have seen many problems with viruses, IE, and Mac. I asked if any others have had success with this. Her reply, "sometimes". :/ I have really enjoyed their shops. Not sure if it is worth the risk though. I think I am even more aggravated at the lack of care on the chat side. If I filled in reports like she just talked to me, I would be rejected!

You are fighting a losing battle with them.....I don't even "try" using Firefox anymore bec they will NOT pay you if you don't do what they say. They hold all the cards, sadly....and some of their "chat" people are VERY rude and unhelpful (not all, but.....)
Ugh... I downloaded IE against my better judgement. Boy am I glad I don't have to use that for other companies. I couldn't get the drop down menus to work to pick the employees for certain questions which means they are probably going to try and make me fill out that whole thing again. I am so frustrated. Why don't they have a save button?!
I wrote to them about something weird on the site tonight (which has since resolved itself since I had to reboot for something) and put in my 2 cents about why they want us to use IE 6 or 7 when IE is up to 10 or so now. Haven't had a reply yet, but their system has delivered MY copy of my message to me three times now.

I suspect they are having some kind of problem tonight in general.

I pray it does not occur that the last thing I did before I died was vacuum the house or eat broccoli.
It did say they were working on technical issues on the home page. Unless they are adding more browsers, it really isn't going to help some of us!
From what I understand they're working on improving their systems. The staff know about the issues and try to help in finding work-arounds. I have been doing jobs for them for years and find the schedulers and management people very flexible and very easy to work with.
Okay, I mentioned this to someone earlier. Right now I have three browsers installed and CORI is not the only project I have which is only compatible with IE. While it would certainly be nice if they all were compatible with whichever browser we prefer, the MSCs are technically our clients and we have to work with what they want or not work for them.

In addition to the browsers I have a program for compressing video which is just for one MSC. I have FileZilla and for a long time it was only to upload video to one, but now a few more have come on board. I have an account with something called FileMail to send video to companies without a method of their own.

The bottom line for me is my bottom line. These programs and browsers have not cost me any money nor have they created huge problems. On the other hand, having each and every one has contributed tens of thousands of dollars to my bank account.

I use IE 9 and have never had any problems with reports on CRI. I always use Roboform to save my reports just in case there ever is a problem.
While I agree with Lisa, in part, about being flexible and working with the client (having been a network consultant for 20 years, that just comes with the territory), I have a few problems with being forced to use IE. IE is notorious for using system resources in such a way as to cause them to be "tacked" (hit hard/hit often). Ever since the first download, the stupid application has been known for its memory creep, its buggy-nature (and lack of feasible debugging programs), and its proprietary code (that has been forced upon the HTML (re: CSS) crowd since its inception). There are other issues, as well, but they number too many to be named.

The biggest frustration I have with being forced to use IE over the two other more popular, more stable browsers (Chrome and Firefox) is that I can see their coding and with a little clean-up and know-how, the problems they have could be easily fixed. I even messaged them once and offered my services-- FOR FREE-- and all I got back was... thank you for your offer, but you need to use IE (I don't mean this to sound like vanity. What I meant here was that I spoke with a few of their tech people, they didn't seem to understand the language they were even programming in and it ended in a "thanks but no thanks" kind of situation... fair enough). This situation occurs when a company has already shelled out thousands (tens of) dollars to have a site done for them and the consultants doing it say, "Sorry, but this will only be compatible in IE," which is totally unacceptable, but by that time they have them by the short ones as there's no more money in the coffers and the consultants aren't willing to put anymore manpower (or billable time) into it. Other than that, it's someone who is still learning and from a professional standpoint, that excuse is just sorely lacking these days. It's really rare when it comes to design, coding, graphic production, etc., that a company can get away with, "We'll only create for one browser-type," unless it's one of the scenarios I mentioned above or it's like someone who owes a family member a solid. (;

Anyway, I feel everyone's frustration on this issue.

Exactly! I don't mind downloading other browsers. I mind using IE! However, I do like shopping for CRI so am just sucking it up. smiling smiley
Yes Lisa,

The biggest issue is Mac users have a hard time with IE as Windows developers do not keep any current version of IE for Mac. I do not understand why Windows cannot make a standard browser that works with all operating sytems! All other major browsers do.

IE has LOTS of issues. That is why CRI has so many issues. I kep wondering if they are getting a kick back and making money from IE? Maybe they just do not understand that most of their problems would be fixed if they used developers who quit trying to make everything IE compliant only.

From a developer side - IE is the only browser website developers have to "make fixes" on. The rest of the browsers generally work quite seamlessly and the only differences for the website developer are small, such as color variants or text sizing... Not a big deal to the viewer. At least the website works!
