Market Force ... What's the appeal?

After hearing a lot about Market Force from everyone on the forum, I decided to sign up with them. I have to say, I am utterly disappointed. The fees are SO low! I don't usually come on here and complain about low-paying jobs because, well, no one is forcing me to take them. I'm just confused because they are so popular with a lot of our fellow shoppers, so I must be missing something. Especially when I hear people say that the majority of their income is derived from MF. Are they like CORI, whose fees start really low and increase if no one takes them?

I am in no way trying to put anyone down or start drama here, I just want to know why so many people like this MSC.

They do go up in time. You will get an offer from Samantha, or a scheduler will call and offer a bonus. The sky can be the limit.

If you are like me and you live in a huge city Market Force has more shops then any 5-10 MSC's put together. Dont even think about trying to pay the rent with the money you are going to make off this company!
Tlt14, in my city, which I guess would be considered gargantuan by some standards, and the other large metro area in my state, Market Force does have a lot of shops second only to CORI. While CORI assignments tend to bonus quite bit, it is not as common for MF. I would think it is another case where it depends on where you live since some shoppers are getting great paying gigs.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

You're so right, Lisa. I get big bonuses because of where I live. No one from the big city would drive around here to do them. Too far for them. I get bonuses when I have to travel to git 'er done. It's far for me too but I'll do it.

I live in a metropolitan area comprised of several reasonably-sized cities. MFI has several clients that offer numerous shops on a frequent basis. The shops that are close to the downtown cores go quickly and at low rates, but the ones on the outskirts and in rural areas are often bonused and sometimes at exceptionally nice rates. It is funny that you should mention not being able to pay rent with the money made from this company, because for several months out of the past year, I have actually been able to do exactly that, with money left over for utilities and my cell phone bill, too.

In response to the original poster: different companies offer different things in different areas, and different people will find different opportunities to serve their different needs. I'm sorry you haven't found the right opportunities with MFI, but perhaps you will see something in the future that meets your particular needs. smiling smiley
..and it so happens, Mr. Toggle that I make my car payment with MF and pay bills. So there!
i havent done any shops for marketforce in years. They still call me
offering bonuses. Can't remember last time I actually answered

To answer the OP about what the appeal of Market Force is, Market Force is not my favorite by a long way. They do have a lot of drawbacks but they pay on time every month in a very organized way so I can tell very clearly what they are paying me for. It's very easy to go back and check off the shops and be sure I got paid for each. I like some of their shops and I like being able to self-assign. The good outweighs the bad for me and I shop certain shops for them. Some I stay away from. They have a lot of shops in most areas and it's easy pick and choose. Yes, the pay is frequently low but the instructions are usually clear and the reports are fast and easy. I can't imagine spending more than 10 minutes on a MF report. This makes MF a good training ground for new shoppers.

I shopped a lot with them when I was a brand-new shopper because they always have shops and they are easy to get, probably because of the low pay. As I got a little more experienced I found jobs paying higher rates so I don't shop for them as much.
Market Force:

1. Easy

2. Paid every 30 days, direct deposit

3. Friendly website, easy interaction.

4. Rare, if any "complaints" or editors bothering you for clarification.

5. Super easy reporting, some with no or very little narrative.

6. Low pay but great filler shops when you have multiple shops in the area.

7. Mostly quick responses from Help Desk.

8. Simple guidelines and directions...As a friend used to say, "So easy, a monkey could do it." smiling smiley
Here Here AustinMom! What a great company for training. I used them too in the beginning. You can self assign which gives you the opportunitie to learn. I only do shops now for them when they call and bonus.
I like them for exactly the reasons SunnyDays mentioned. I like the casual dining shop ok, there's only 1 location in my city, and they shop it a bunch, so there's always 1 or 2 left over when the deadlines hit. I've been shopping for 3 months and every single month they've called me offering a bonus. The other thing I like about them is if I'm driving to nother city to do a group of shops and need a meal, I know I can always pick up something from them if I can't find something better. Plus they have a regional fast food chicken shop that I LOVE. We don't have them here, but whenever I travel near one I always do it because I love the food and I'm gonna stop there anyway.

You get in their good graces by doing a few cheap food shops, then you wait til they are tryting to fill at the end of the month. Then you realize they area ready to buy you lunch, which you need anyway, an throw you $30 bucks for work you can do in 15 minutes

I don't see any graet advantage to being with them. They turned down a shop I did saying that I was supposed to order all meals first. Then, when I told them that maybe I was a bit too harsh on the shop they came back with some quotation from their guidelines. So I replied with quotes from the section I was turned down for. It really was a real waste of money for me and the waste of a day. I've used them a few times in the past and had no problems, but this time it was a last minute phone call from a scheduler with a small bonus and when I asked them to hold on they just went and almost forced the shop. I really don't believe I'll be returning or answering their calls in the future. I don't see the appeal at all.
MarketForce regularly has shops, where I live, or travel. Their pay is commensurate with the requirements. They have only a few shops that I would not consider. Their instructions and guidelines are thorough, and their reports are easy, especially after you've done a few. I like being able to self-assign according to my calendar, and most shops allow the shopper to change the date of a scheduled shop - all without having to wait for a scheduling department. I don't like the food that has to be ordered at the FF shops, but someone at my house will eat it. The pay is decent, and bonuses are frequent and can be generous. MarketForce always pays on time, direct deposit - which is my favorite method.
Market Force has a sales team that is hands down the most effective. Just look at the range of clients. I totally agree the pay for most shops is low but if I am going into a town of 4,000 people 25 miles away it is nice to pick up a couple of restaurant shops and maybe a Hardware store or Gas Station audit to really turn the trip into something that makes the drive worthwhile.

I am more troubled by the plethora of mom & pop one client wonders. How much time do I waste each week logging into companies like Amber Arch, Reflections MS, Anonomous Insights, etc. that never seem to have ANY clients. I know that Market Force always is going to have something available anywhere I decide to go that particular day.

They were my very first two shops. I agree they are easy reports for the ones I did. They have answered my emails and have shops in my area. The first two I did were not that high paying but I got experience, some pay, a free meal and learned a lot from both of them.
The only problem I have had is muffing the screening and still don't know what I did wrong.
I will continue to shop for them to get that added shop for lunch in an area I am already in. Hopefully some bonus shops will come my way some day.
This company sent a message to my PERSONAL Facebook account about having to cancel an account due to its being linked with another shopper.

Who do Marketforce people think they are sending such a message to a personal Facebook account? I guess Facebook is universal. But to a personal inbox message? What?

Way past unprofessional.
Silly Samantha!
You know that I did that location last month for more than double what you're offering today.
You know that the "Premium Fee" I was offered last week would be equal to what you're offering today.
You know that I haven't done one of those shops for less than double, and usually 3-4 times the base price, in years.
What were you thinking, Samantha? I'll chalk it up to those cool shades blocking your view of my history.
Silly, silly, Samantha.
What's the appeal? Lots of work, prompt pay, professional company.

I live in a major metropolitan area. I agree the shops don't pay all that much, however, they don't require a lot of work and are super easy. Makes for a nice shop if you want a free burger and a few bucks for the work.
Once you complete a particular type of shop once, you tend to get calls with nice bonuses. Double and triple bonuses are not uncommon. I would echo SunnyDays2 post but add the fast casual burger place to my reasons. I did, however, do one shop today (a different burger place for the same MSC) where there was no way the required purchase was going to cover the reimbursement and the service was horrible. Bummer.
They are a great company to "cut your teeth" on when you first start. And I wait now for bonused shops. I have a good relationship with several of their schedulers, so the minute I see the bonus online, I call someone and see if I can get it increased. Last month I did several audits that took about 30 minutes each to do and another 30 minutes to enter online, and they paid from between $25 to $50 with no out of pocket expenses. And, the locations were not more than 25 miles away from my house! One of them was only 10 miles away. I don't like one of the fast food shops that they do and refuse to do them because the food sucks and I hate the timing thing, but they have a tasty burger shop that I will do from time to time that is way easier to do. And I love doing their grocery and pharmacy shops. I usually ask for a bonus on those as well unless they are a few miles from home.
I had one call me and she wanted to know what I would want to do a gas station that was about 100 miles from me (return trip) I told her what I wanted and she said it wasn't enough and gave me more.

How do you like that one? I was stunned and graciously accepted her offer. smiling smiley
So when they call you seasoned shoppers with a bonus, do you negotiate? I always accept their offer if it is reasonable.
I so do not like the e-mails that I get saying they are bonusing $3 and will hold it for 22 hrs. After 22 hrs. it will drop to a $2 bonus. Oh, the shop is 80 miles round trip. I am guessing the added $3 is to the $5 - $6. However, I have had some fairly good offers.
Yes, those email shop offers are a joke. I think it states something like "premium fee" for the $3, LOL.

I used to just take their offer if it was an amount that I would have signed up for it at. Now I always "negotiate," i.e. ask for more. I've never had them not go up at least a few bucks, and 80% of the time will meet what I'm requesting after "checking with their supervisor" (admittedly, I'm not outrageous in my requests.)

I'm usually satisfied with what they offer when they call; sometimes, not. I recently asked for XXX dollars on a shop that had been paying XX dollars that was about 140 miles roundtrip. They turned me down and I don't blame them. That was a meal time shop way out west from me with nothing else along the way, and that kind of drive around a meal time just about does in a day. It's tough to head east or any other direction for another shop after you've already driven 140 miles roundtrip west for one. Most of the time I'll do it for XX, but that day I didn't want to give up my whole day's possibilities elsewhere for that money.

I do think they are more than fair on the bonused shops that they call on. Usually I have no reason to try to negotiate. That particular shop is fair at XX because I can make the drive and knock out the whole thing in 1/2 day so it's good money for the effort. That particular day, another direction looked better.
