I basically burned my bridge with Maritz a couple weeks ago. I have three shops now that they are currently saying they aren't paying me for, two because the receipts have the wrong time or address on them, and they apparently don't believe that the computers inside the gas pumps or stores could make those kind of mistakes, and one because a pump receipt is too light to get a decent scan of.
I had another 30+ shops already scheduled with them, and when they said their final answer was that they wouldn't pay me for the three shops(they claim they can't even submit them to the client that way, which is bs), I told them to go ahead and just cancel out the rest of the scheduled shops, including four that they had called and begged me to take from the January quarterlies that they couldn't get anyone to do. The woman was pissed, but I told her that there was no reason for me to continue if they were going to withhold payments for things I had no control over. She gave me some mumbo-jumbo about the client not allowing it. The client has been allowing it for at least the last year and is well aware that there are occasional inconsistencies with receipts at certain locations, as I have done each of these locations repeatedly with the old MSC with very few problems. I had to clarify a couple things with them, but they never didn't pay me (except for once when I just completely forgot to take an overall picture. My bad - lesson learned).
Just had another one kicked back yesterday (from a debrief I did on the first of Feb) because the c-store receipt has a different business name on it than the gas receipt. We'll see what happens with that.
I am truly looking forward to the day that the old MSC, or another that is better equipped to handle this type of thing takes over this account, as well as the big DIY. (I actually got a nasty verification notice from them for spending to much on a DIY shop. Really?)
Maybe MarketForce will take over. hehehehe. doubtful, but one can hope.

Some times you just have to turn around, give a little smile, toss the match, set the bridge ablaze, and walk away.
