Question about pizza shops on National Shopping Service.

When I look at the list of the pizza shops for NSS, the titles all say delivery. Marketforce does these also, and at some point, when the shop has been listed there for awhile, they change it to delivery/carryout. Does NSS do the same thing? I don't live in a delivery area, but drive through four different areas they cover almost every week.

Jon, Call the NSS number (1-800-800-2704). They can change shops to be carryout as well as add bonuses if necessary. They seem to work more from the phone even though you are allowed to self assign.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
NSS will actually change it to a carry out shop if you call them...and if the shop has been sitting there for awhile. I stopped shopping for them, though. They would call me EVERY month begging me to take the shop nearest me....but when I did it, the photo Nazi ALWAYS sent the report back with a request for a better photo.

I did them with no problem for about a year, and then they apparently got a new editor who had some weird standards that I could not figure out. The last 4 I did for them were rejected due to the photos....which looked exactly like the photos I had been submitting for over a year, and which looked just like the example photos.

I would think that there was a problem on my end, but I have never had a photo rejected from ANY other company, and I take about 200 photos on each of my shopping route days.

I've seen that other people have commented on the photo issue with this company, as well.

I would stay away.
I (as well) always handle shops with a phone call, but don't do the Pizza ones.

Live consciously....
As with any new company I start working for, I will try one or two jobs and see what happens. If they pay me, I keep going. If they don't (and they don't convince me conclusively that I screwed up), I just won't work for them anymore. I'm not worried about the cost of a pizza since I've got to feed my rugrats anyways.

Thanks everyone for the input. Think I'm going to "try" them out this weekend.

They recently changed the photo standards. I have been able to do these with my OLD iPhone 4s. smiling smiley
I do these shops when they are bonused and have not had any trouble with the photos, but I would never use my phone and always a 14 mp point and shoot. The directions for the photos are very straight forward, and if your photos do not match your shop will not be accepted. NSS has always paid me on time and they seem like a decent company to work for, but they do call me a lot.

Even with the typical NSS pizza shops my food would start going a little cold by the time was done staging and taking the photos. I am avoiding the new shops where you have to actually cut some of the slices of pizza in half and prop them up. Seems like too much work, and I'm not sure I want to eat the pizza slices I just dissected.

Anyone take one of the newer variety and want to comment on the additional requirements?

Shopping for years, but new to the Chicago area.
I did one of the new shops. Since I only do the shops for the fee and not the pizza, I did not care about cutting it winking smiley
Buyer beware, and I do mean that you will be the buyer of bad pizza. I like the schedulers for the most part, and I've gotten decent bonuses after asking. But....

I did several shops successfully, and my last two were rejected due to photos. I emailed back with new pics on the last one, and never heard back. Boo. I deactivated myself from getting emails from them. then I remembered how I did 2 department store makeup evaluations for them that paid well and were easy, plus I LOVE cosmetics.

So I reactivated, and I get an email a minute later from a scheduler, asking me to do a pizza shop. I just laughed and hit delete. I'll shop for the company again, but no more pizza shops for me. My waistline is already thanking me!I'd rather do a grocery shop and get a good take and bake, which is exactly what I am doing for dinner tonight. heck, I'd rather buy pizza less often and buy a great one from a real local pizzeria. I do hope to find out if other pizza companies besides them are shopped.

It seems that the pizza company can be difficult, they fired other MS companies. I don't blame NSS.
I never had a problem with the pizza shops with other MSCs, but I've been wary of taking NSS pizza shops because of the pay. But now that I'm seeing that you can call them and haggle, I'm interested. Are NSS's standards really that much more difficult than the /other/ MSC pizza shops? Any tips? (brighter/darker/no flash/yes flash/insert virgin offering in pizza lid)
They prefer flash photos. I'd say the best advice I can give is make sure you call them if there is an issue with a shop, and take many backup pictures. It got too tedious for me and took up a lot of time, and my family was always complaining they wanted to eat dinner. Also, complete the shop online before even taking a bit of that pizza to be sure all is OK.
When I emailed them pictures last time, I got no reponse and gave up, had no time, cut my losses. The first rejected shop I had I had a bit of time so I called and emailed more pics, so they seem to repond better that way. they may have a new editor as someone else here said.
The photos for the one or two topping pizzas are easier. The ones for the cheese pizzas are more time consuming (not exactly HARD but time consuming).

Surprisingly, they made their first contact with me today, and offered $5 pay rather than the typical reimbursement. This is for a very small order, so not much financial loss for me if it doesn't go well. May as well give this a shot, if any!
I actually preferred the cheese shop. You only need to upload one picture of each shot instead of multiples. I'd cut the slice with kitchen shears. Just make sure all the assignment ID and Site IDs are in each shot.
I did one pizza shop and never heard anything back. That was almost two months ago. Do they tell you if your shop is rejected due to photo issues or do you have to ask them? Does it usually take a long time to be paid by NSS?

I did a cosmetic shop for them today and they only paid $10.00 for it. I thought it was $15 when I accepted it. I must've been dreaming. I think this company has only pizza shops and occasionally a very low paying cosmetic department store shop with nearly 70 questions and two long narratives. I can't work for nothing as a matter of principle because my time is worth more than this.

I'm debating whether to stop getting emails from them. I won't deactivate my account until I find out if I'm getting paid.

Seriously, how can a MSC expect people to do these shops for practically nothing? Xxxxxx's pizza stinks and they won't even let you choose the crust or toppings you might really want. Three hours for a cosmetic shop and report for $10? It cost me $5.00 to get there and back.

They're insane. Live and learn!

Mod note: Hey! Regardless of your feelings about an MSC or a client's pizza, you're not allowed to name the clients when the MSC has been named (and is, in fact, in the thread's title). Thanks for being more careful in the future. smiling smiley

NSS pays by check the last of the month following the month you shopped in.
It's pretty easy, just look under My Payroll. Account history lets you look at the shops you completed and the fees due, and My Paychecks shows you if a check was sent and for how much.
I'll be getting a check the end of this month for shops completed in March.
@Minuet00: Thanks for the info on payment. I have looked at my Account History a few times. I did the pizza shop in February and March is over, and I didn't get paid. The month and client show up in the account history selection with the client logo, but it says "0 payroll records found". I guess I need to call NSS. They have been calling me asking me to do more pizza shops. Really?
nycrocks-Do they tell you if your shop is rejected due to photo issues or do you have to ask them? Does it usually take a long time to be paid by NSS?
They told me 2 days later when they were rejected. Ironically, it was the day I received my check from the prior month, I think they pay 6 weeks after a job, but I could be off on the timing.
I would call them today, they are more helpful over the phone.
As followup for the process so far, I filled out my shop last night. The guidelines did not match up to the questionnaire. The questionnaire was for a traditional pizza shop, which mine was not, and so I had to select "Yes" on multiple questions that were not applicable. Already I'm starting to feel the sweat.

I received payment for a shop in February last week. They are very slow, but do pay consistently.
Still no rejection notice or request for more info. I might be in the clear. If this works out well, the secret might be in the lighting. I took all my photos in direct sunlight.
My instructions said specifically not let sunlight hit any part of the pizza when taking the photos. I just did one of these the other day and didn't realize my camera settings were too small until I had uploaded the pictures and submitted the report. Luckily I took backup photos with my dSLR, but so far no response from them.

I reply to the email that I cannot have delivery in my area either, but would be happy to do a carry out. Sometimes it can be changed, you just have to watch. BUT beware, unless specifically stated, these shops are for reimbursement only. No bonus, no fee....UNLESS YOU ASK. That part was missed- when I did several for them. Since then, I always ask "What are you offering?"
My first was accepted, so I'm completing another today. This one is also bonused. The first scenario didn't mention sunlight, but this one is specifying no sunlight should touch the pizza. This one is the cheese pizza shop (the really cringeworthy directions), but I'm pulling on my big-boy pants and giving it a shot, I guess. I'm not especially in the mood for pizza, but the SO is, so I'll be roasting a baby turkey all for myself. :p
