MSC asking for Fee to Improve Your Rating

I just joined and MSC and saw this notice:

"In order FOR YOU to be recognized by NEW SCHEDULERS for your quality work, being a Rated Member gives you greater opportunity to be chosen more often for available assignments in your area......you can become a 'Rated' member for an annual fee of only $9.99"

Anybody familiar with this? I thought we "earned" ratings, but I'm still fairly new to this. However, I was able to get a pretty good shop in my area with no experience with the company, hence a zero rating.

I know which company you are talking about, and to my knowledge, they are the only ones that do that. DON'T pay them. They called me to do a shop that they were desperate to have done, and the pay was underwhelming depsite how 'urgent' it was to them. I did not do that shop, and I won't do any in the future if I have to pay for them.

There are LOTS of companies out there that do not ask you to pay for preferential scheduling.

I've done shops without paying the fee - I'm guessing that in high demand markets that may be a factor but not in most places.

I'm sure that in their minds they justify the highway thievery as, "It makes sure we only get serious shoppers." But of course that is bunk and just an excuse to pick the pockets of serious shoppers who are accustomed to earning a rating by performance. Sort of reminds me of the sale of indulgences in the Middle Ages.

Satisfaction Services tried to pull that one on me. I told them to go to some place very very hot and to twirl 14 times on their left foot.

Cettie is right, the company is Satisfaction Services. Of course I did not pay the fee. Like I said, I got a nice first shop without it and my rating with them was 0 so far!

Once they twirl 14 times on their left foot.....they then need to twirl 20 times on their right foot. BS and a quick way to take advantage of new shoppers.....if it sounds like a hoax, it probably is.

Live consciously....
I work for SS and never pay their silly fees. They need me more than I need them.

This just screams "scam" to me.
Do they pay their shoppers? I signed up for something in my area and I am just wondering.
I also have shopped with them for years, without paying to be a rated member. Their site indicates an added benefit to be rated. Client discounts for the shopper, though that's never been of benefit to me.
I do shops for them a few times a year, and heck no I never paid them or anyone to work...ridiculous to pay to work, right?
Is the company good at paying people? I did two assignments for them and want to make sure I get paid before I apply for any others.
Thanks,
I always got paid, but haven't shopped for them in about a year so I don't know about how they are doing now.
