Ah! Yes, it is closer than that ~ much. smiling smiley I live along I-5, also. Actually, less than one mile and only three minutes away from the nearest interchange! As the crow flies, only two blocks. The Oregon State Fairgrounds are only two blocks in the other direction... surprising how peaceful it is here! Seriously!

We never hear the freeway from here, but during fair time we hear mooing, fair rides, concerts, announcers, all kinds of things. We LOVED when they had the huge 4th of July fireworks show there ~ it was like front-row seats in our back yard. The dogs didn't like it quite as much, so were always safely tucked into their room in their kennels during that time. Several years back they moved the show to the Riverfront park. :/ Also, on Summer nights when windows are open, or when we have the dog radio turned on; we hear the train horn from the tracks that run right by the fairgrounds ~ but not the train itself. This house has been here since before 1890 (not entirely sure how much longer) so everything came up around it. Except maybe the train track. smiling smiley

Oh yeah ~ we have a 'dog radio'. smiling smiley It's actually a good-quality baby monitor with the transmitter end mounted so it's tucked up under the kennel run roof in the back yard, and the receiver end on the kitchen counter; so we can hear if there's too much woofage going on out there and do something about it. Also you can hear if it starts raining, to let the dogs in; or if someone is in/near the yard. It also has an intercom button, so we can talk to the dogs ("shoosh!" ) or creep someone right the hell out with a disembodied voice suddenly coming from apparently nowhere. Heh heh. smiling smiley

I actually owe IntelliShop some credit for helping me grow thick skin vis-à-vis picky editing. They provided the opportunity, this Forum provided the encouragement. I've never not been paid by IS, and their ratings no longer mean anything to me. They're not trying to insult me with their low starting pay, they're trying to make the most money that they can. I'm not trying to insult them when I glance at the email offer, snicker, and immediately click delete. I'm just waiting for the prices to go up to something that will make me the most money. They usually don't, but good for them. When they do, good for me.
Storm when I get to that side of the world again, you and I are going to have to go on some awesome hikes! You make me miss Or so much and it has been 2 years since I have been that way.

Just lost trying to find a fire pit in a concrete jungle wishing it was a wooded glen...

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all
Gypsy, I only wish I could still hike! My back issues make it difficult for me to even walk very far without assistance anymore. sad smiley I can walk just fine in a store with a shopping cart, but not "freestyle". smiling smiley

I miss being able to walk, I used to walk a lot! And it always annoys me inside (although I rarely voice it) when people say something about me being "lucky" because I have a disabled parking thingie and get to park close where ever I go. *sigh*. I'd rather walk! I even have dreams where I'm walking freely, all over the place, and with no pain sometimes ~ I love those.

If you do come out here again, though, I'd love to meet up! Oregon is indeed a beautiful place. I love the ocean, and I still treasure the time I got to go to Crater Lake. Silver Falls is lovely, too. smiling smiley

I have no issue with Intellishop except for a few newbie editors. But I realize I have not done anything for them for a while. On checking, I have been receiving their emails but I have signed up with more companies and I haven't been able to
check on the Intellishop's offers. They have paid me for everything I have done for them.
I have luck with Intelli-shop so far, and I am in N Calif. The one time I was not paid was when I went to the wrong location on the same Blvd. It was in a new town I was traveling through, therefore I am not familiar with the area.

Please indicate your location when posting complaints. Some areas may have worse schedulers and editors than others.

Stormcloud, I cannot agree with u more. I grew up in the NYC area. Anywhere above the city was considered "upstate". We had a home 60 miles north and we were "upstate" sounding like we were no where near NYC and all the way on the other side of the state even though NY state is one of the larger states in the nation and continued north and west forever after our house. Those people in places like Syracuse considered our "upstate" house to be basically in nyc area. My kids both went to college in Portland and I have had the nightmares of traveling in Portland too, trying to navigate to get to somewhere less than a mile away but across a river, or a ravine or a large center of town hill is impossible. It seems for some people California and Oregon are both only the places west of the 5 or 405 freeway and NY State is only NYC. I am sure I have the same misconceptions about other places I have not been.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
As far as my location is concerned, you can figure it out from my previous posts. As my name states, I am a gypsy and enjoy traveling. I have had this with schedulers and editors in many/ most of the locations I have been to.

That's just thoughtless. How do you stop yourself from offering to break their legs so they can see for themselves just how 'lucky' you are.
Bwa-hahaha!! I know, Teri... believe me ~ it's crossed my mind!!

A scene from 'Desperate Housewives' stuck with me... and despite my condition and perspective on the whole issue, still makes me laugh. The Eva Longoria character parked in a handicapped spot and was getting out of her car when a man in a wheelchair came by and stopped to @#$%& her out because she took the last disabled spot and he had to park all the way down the aisle. She said, but you get to roll; I've gotta walk in these 3" heels! While it does make me laugh, I think if I'd have been there I'd still have to @#$%&-slap her. smiling smiley

Sometimes, if I can park right next to a shopping cart corral farther out, I will & then walk to the store with a cart. As mentioned, for whatever reason I can walk just fine with a shopping cart... and it lets me get some exercise and all. It's difficult to keep weight off when you can barely move sometimes. smiling smiley And you love to eat. grinning smiley

I have anxiety and restlessness sometimes... I think it's because I'm supposed to be, and meant to be, much more active than I'm currently *able* to be!

Actually one of my favorite moments when I was working customer service (and we were supposed to at least pretend the customer was right) was the day one of the customers got ticketed in the parking lot for using a handicapped spot and came in demanding we take care of it. It was windy that day and she did not want to mess up her hair so had used the closest spot she could find, so we should be nice to her and fix it. I started explaining that those came from the police department and there was nothing the store could do about it. Her language became more colorful as I tried to stay calm. Finally, the little old lady in line behind her tapped her on the shoulder. The lady then began to explain that she knew how to fix it so she could park wherever she wanted all the time. This first customer looked interested and the lady explained that she was willing to go out into the parking lot and run her over with her car because she was sure that would make her happy as she would the actually qualify for the good spots. The older woman then flashed the sweetest smile.

I was able to keep from busting out laughing until the first customer made it out the door......barely.
Bwah!!!! That is just priceless! I'd have loved to have witnessed *that* for myself. What a great old lady! smiling smiley
