Maritz Shop Decision

Hi! I'm a new shopper with Maritz (I've never done a shop for them before) and was wondering how long it took them to assign shops? I applied for one on Friday and have still not heard back. When I log into my account, I can see that the shop is still on the board, which to me means that it has not been assigned.

It's really frustrating when you have to wait for days for a decision.

Maritz always assigns new shoppers by phone. Likely they'll call you eventually, but you can be proactive and call them and actually talk to real people.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

Please don't put your words into MY mouth.

1. They're not all old.

2. Even if some of them are older than you are right now, I happen to like them and will do whatever I can to help them get the shops done because they've always been fair with me. I'll take them over Market Force's rude, pushy foreign schedulers offering 50 cent bonuses any day.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Oh please it was a joke.

And a funny one at that.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Not so funny with my name above it as if I said it. I don't care if other people want to call them old in a disparaging manner but I don't do it.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Maritz seems to be a love 'em, hate 'em MSC. I much prefer to speak with a real live person, young or old, and get my question answered or problem solved. Even if it has to be run by a supervisor. I find that back and forth emails take much longer to get results. I am definately on the love 'em side.

Cirmi, I also suggest you give them a call.
I thought it was not only funny but also factual smiling smiley

O.o o.O

Happily shopping New England and beyond!!!!!

Anyone who read the "fixed it for you" line and didn't understand that I obviously edited your quote seriously fails at the internet. Anyone who didn't understand that it was simply a joke fails at having a sense of humor.

I was just surprised it was so subtle. Subtlety is not bgriffin's M.O.

Oh, so you're saying I only have the ability to make one kind of joke? I'll have you know my sense of humor is multi-dimensional!

I'm new with them, too. I requested shops and waited almost two weeks. Came here, got the advice to call them, and I did. I did the first shop, and the scheduler called me today to offer me bonus shops!

YAY Bonus shops. They must not like me, lol. I do a lot of shops for them and they've never called me with a bonus opportunity.

I just did a $12 shop for $40 today. It was my first one at this store, so I would only take one. They were offering me several, but I have a hard and fast rule to NEVER accept more than one shop until I have completed one to see how bad it is. I learned that lesson long ago.

Reading and remembering the guidelines for the first shop is always the hardest. After completing the shop and report, I would definitely take any they want to give me for $40. Definitely NOT for $12.
"Old" is a matter of perspective. Ahem, to me, they are not old. :-)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

That's a great idea!

And yes, OP, definitely call them.

bgriffin, I know it was a joke. I just don't think it was funny. And someone coming to this thread who didn't happen to read my original post would not know what it was that you "fixed." All they'd see is that you quoted me calling the people at Maritz old. The point of my post was to give the information that a phone call would yield a conversation with a human being, not a machine, and you turned it into an insult against the nice people at Maritz. I think it's great that Maritz hires people who have life experience and manners. You turned it into an insult.

Don't play games with other people's words. That's all I'm saying. If you had simply replied, "Yeah, you'll talk to a real old person," I wouldn't have had an issue with it. But you put those words into MY mouth.

The appropriate response would have been for you to apologize for doing it, not defend what you did.

My father is 89. He's an intelligent and articulate person. So are the people at Maritz. I don't appreciate people who think it's funny to poke fun at the elderly. If you're lucky, you'll get to be old someday. I wonder how you'll like being mocked for it.

My post was directly under your post. First of all, nobody reads quoted material more that to see what the poster is responding to. Anybody who reads my post is first going to read the "fixed it for you," then read the quoted part, and then if they're confused about what was fixed they can look about 1" up the screen and see what the original quote was. As I said, anybody who can't understand what I did fails at the internet. If there is a single person in the world who actually read this thread and seriously thought you called the people at Maritz old they need both a brain and a life.

It wasn't an insult. It was a joke.

That would have been maybe 1/10th as funny.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

I spent Super Bowl Sunday at an assisted living facility grilling chicken for the residents. I don't have a problem with the elderly and I wasn't poking fun at them. There is a higher percentage of retirement age employees at Maritz than there are most other MSC's. I made a joke about that. It wasn't a joke that was insulting. It was simply true. I think perhaps you are being just a tad bit sensitive, but it's ok, I won't ask you to apologize for that.

Also, do I need to have the shop bonus confirmed in an email?

I only got a confirmation over the phone, and I don't see anywhere in my shop documentation what the fee and bonus for the shop are. How will they know what bonus they offered me?
bgriffin while I think that dspeakes completely overreacted to your comments I think perhaps she has a great relationship with Maritz and perhaps she doesn't want someone from Martiz to read the post and think she said that about them. In a way I can understand that. She's just trying to protect the way she earns a living.

Anyway, what do I know, I'm pretty old too and you both do a pretty good job of speaking for yourselves...

Having worked with Maritz since 2006, one can get lulled into complacency. The old team delivered on its promises. Their word was golden.

That said, there are a lot of new people at Maritz now. Not all stand by what they say or promise. If a bonus or a shop is promised, don't take it for granted. Double check the bonus and the shops are assigned to you. If there is a discrepancy such as wrong due date or no bonus and you can't get hold of them and the due date passes, it is their fault, not yours. Phone tag is common in my experience. Don't just do the assignment. You may not get your bonus retroactively. One scheduler denied ever promising anything after the fact, once. That was one time too many. I learned.

Don't make fun of Maritz schedulers! They can't help it that they're old! That was insulting! You should apologize!

Fixed it for you.
cirmi, to see the bonus on your shop, go to My Current Shops and click on the job number. It will take you to a page where you can see a link called "Print/View Complete List of Shops for this Project". Click on that link and it should show you your shop and the bonus agreed on. If this doesn't work for you, call the company at 800-782-4299 and someone will help you.
