LOL!!!! ROTFLMFAO!!!!!

My problem is just exactly the opposite -- my daughter just holds up 4 fingers, and I KNOW that
means "good grief, mom, I've heard that same story AT LEAST 40 times!"

And I missed a shop window last Saturday because it took me almost two hours to find my car keys....

Of course, as us optimists often do, I make a joke out of my failing memory. One of the real
benefits is that I'm now constantly meeting new people.

My daughter says I embarass her because I don't act my age...I just smile and say "what age is
that, dear?"

I wear clothes older than some of you "kids". If I could figure out some way to get them registered to vote, we could pack the polls!

And when anybody says anything negative about old people, I just remind myself that it beats the
h-e-double hockey sticks out of the alternative.

One of my neighbors is 93. Some of HER clothes are older than I am! However, she still goes to the beauty shop every week, dresses to the 9's (if a little out of style), does her own housework, shopping, and driving. She wears HIGH HEELS with the commanding posture and walk of a grown
woman -- not an old woman!!! And all of our friends assure me that she was just as boring 50 years ago as she is today!

My other neighbor is 85...she paints her toenails crimson, but not her fingernails, because it's not
ladylike. We garden together. She had never eaten an avocado until I shared one with her last year.
She had never had fried okra or fried green tomatoes, either, until I cooked some and shared them
with her!

Maybe people make jokes about the aged because they are a little uncomfortable at the thought that it's gonna happen to them. Or because there's a mindset that the aged are embarassing or difficult. Well, being embarassing or difficult is not the sole purview of the aged. And if a person
is boring when they are 15, I assure you, they won't get more interesting as they age. If they
don't have a sense of humor at 25, they won't magically gain one when they are 80. And if a 30 year old doesn't have any common sense, he's not going to pick up a supply of it suddenly in his late 70's!!! And memory definitely isn't gonna IMPROVE as you age!

And if it WAS a joke, about having to repeat things more often to grandma, I didn't see it as a joke...I just figured it was a statement of fact.

I have married grandchildren who are probably older than some of you. I am no spring chicken! I
mystery shop because no one can survive on social security. And though my memory may be shot,
I think I've shown my sense of humor is intact!

Stilllearning, I enjoy many of your posts. Please stop taking these gentle remarks about old people so personally, so very to heart, and putting yourself through such pain over them! I am quite sure the posters did not make these remarks with the intent to hurt anybody! I do not know why the subject is so painful to you, and I certainly regret that it causes you pain. I hope my relating some
of my coping mechanisms made you smile!

After all, I clearly recall the days when I thought my own parents were "older than dirt"...and my mother was then in her 30's!

Peace, all.

And may you all grow old in good health, good humor, and intact memories!

You're absolutely right. No one should get upset over something that some dumb kid, (but I repeat myself), says.*

*That was a joke.
I thought a lot of those jokes were funny and I didn't take offense. My late husband used to say "Well, if he can't take a joke, ______ him." I think it's the nature of men to joke and poke fun at one another and the nature of women to maybe get offended just a wee bit quick. Sure hope I'll always be able to take a joke, especially one directed exactly at me. There are a lot of humorous traits of older people and I have every one of them, but I haven't lost it. It just takes a little longer every morning to find it. We older people are not going to get any younger and I don't intend to be upset about that fact. This little dustup has been fun but I have to pull on my britches and jump on my horse and trot off west to see about some filling stations. Hope when I get back tonight the dust is all settled.

Thank you, Cease for recognizing my pain. Quite honestly though, the only pain I’m experiencing emanates from being in the throes of smoking cessation. The feelings can best be described as the smoker’s, er, non-smoker’s version of PMS. Since I am currently in one of my (fleeting) more rational moments, may I suggest y’all stand back and run for cover?

(heart)

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I KNEW that didn't sound like you talking! I should have been a little more sensitive in my response. Sorry about that. Thats some serious suckage you're going through but you're doing the right thing. Good luck!

OMG, do I ever feel your pain!!! I quit for four YEARS.

Gained a pound every month, and missed smoking as bad
the very last day as I did the first day! Like, if I saw
somebody lighting a cigaret (and this was back in the
day, when MOST people smoked!), I would start shaking,
sweating, and trembling! I am NOT kidding you.

Not to mention that during that four years I ran all my
friends off!

smiling smiley

Took years to mend all those bridges, LOL!!!

Thanks for the warning; and don't use ME as an excuse
not to stop! My experience is unusual, in that most
who do quit actually have the desire to smoke go away.
My desire just never, ever went away.

Best of luck.

There are probably easier ways, but I copied the scenario text from the instruction manual, pasted each scenario into a separate email, emailed them to myself, copied the text from the email on my smartphone, and pasted the text into note files on my smartphone. At first I just left them as emails and would reference them on my phone from email, but they started dropping off my visible inbox on my phone after a certain amount of time.

Didn't they have you do a "photo" test to be sure you submitted the correct size image? They want their uploads at the smallest size possible.

Works wonders for a receipt 2.5 inches wide and 14 inches long......
ap7, when I have a long receipt I cut it in half and tape the halves side by side before I scan or photograph.

The purpose of this project is to let the home improvement company know which employees at its stores need to be trained on the merchandise available in their respective department (Appliances, Lighting, Tools, Paint, Flooring, etc.) and whether store managers are assigning specifically-trained personnel to man the different departments.

I have done about 10 of these shops and at only two of them were the employees actually knowledgeable about the equipment I was inquiring about. Many of the stores don't have people assigned to a specific department--they are just rovers and report to any department where a customer needs assistance and then only if the customer goes to customer service to request assistance.

I have shopped with this company for years and have never had any problems with any of their schedulers. Most of them are quite understanding, and can be very helpful.
